The first hand is most representative of what im trying to show here. I've done it with AK, AQ, AJ and probably many other hands too. I'll raise PF, get called....hit Top pair...bet, get called....check the turn, and then either bet the river or call if he bets (depending on position obv).

Generally when im checking these turns its in the name of pot control, obviously as in the first hand, i dont have a hand i want to be playing a big pot with even though it's probably best. Should i grow a pair and keep leading in these spots or am i playing it ok?

First hand is an easy muck pf. Unless you are playing sh, there is no need to play ATo in EP. I probably bet the turn there, but as played, easy call on the river.

Second, looks like you played it pretty good, but I lead the river as well.

Edit: I am unsure if the first hand is from a sh game, but if it is, then the pf raise is fine.

You know, you don't HAVE to play a big pot. If he hammers back at you or something, and you think your hand is NoGood, just fold. You'll make more money by betting the turn and river in the first hand- but occassionally having to fold- in the long run.

How do you expect to ever get any value from any hand?

I think this hand is very different from the other hands because of both the flop texture and the villian's response. If you get called both on the flop and turn you might need to slow down on the river.

By not betting the river, you're also effectively keeping the pot small in the same manner as the previous hands. The key difference is that if this guy was on a draw, he's making big mistakes to call you down.

I'm guessing he'll just check behind you on this river, but I can be wrong.

I think with hands like the the first one, you need to lead the turn also, then check/call the river. Also I think 5x the BB preflop with A10, might run you into trouble, cause your most likely only to get called when your behind.

As for the second hand, it is probably fine as played, but I can definitely see getting away from it on the end there also, I'd say this is more of a read dependent call.
