Do the wives die? If so, who? If so, when? And why?
So, since everybody sees someone else cheating, God's words aren't very troubling at first. A, for instance, says to himself that both B and C are cheating, so God's words don't necesarily mean that A (his wife) is cheating. The same goes for B and C.
So, on January 1st no one dies.
January 2nd:
Now it gets interesting. Because no one was killed, it means that at least two wives are cheating. For example, if only one wife was cheating, then the husband of that wife would see that no one was cheating on January 1st, and therefore with the knowledge that someone was cheating, would know that his wife was cheating. This applies to all three.
But, this isn't so bad. After all, each of them sees two people cheating, so it could only be those two who are cheating. For instance, A sees B and C cheating, so he figures that if at least 2 are cheating, it could be that only B and C are cheating, so he's okay.
So, on January 2nd, no one dies.
January 3rd:
The fun part. Since no one died before, it must be the case that everybody sees two people cheating. After all, if there were EXACTLY two people cheating, then one of them would only see on person cheating and therefore know that his wife was cheating and would therefore kill his wife. However, no one died on January 2nd, so therefore they all see two people cheating.
All three wives are hung on January 3rd at Noon.
