edit -- first posted this in lhe, but then remembered the shlhe forum...

30/60 4 handed

villian is bad...calls down with crap...usually very agg with draws on flop...but will slow down on turn if he goes unimproved.

hero sb w 8 icon_suit_diamond.gif 9 icon_suit_diamond.gif

utg(villian) raise, i call in sb, bb (other donk) calls in bb

FLOP :: J icon_suit_diamond.gif 7 icon_suit_diamond.gif 5 icon_suit_club.gif

i check, bb bets, villian raise, i 3 bet, bb caps (all in -- not quite for the max...), villian call, i call

TURN :: 7 icon_suit_club.gif

i check, villian checks...

RIV :: Q icon_suit_heart.gif

i check and quit since obv i have to beat BB hand to win anything...

---

im more interested in flop/turn play..sux being OOP...anyone lead though in keeping with the sick aggression you need short handed? when he checked behind im pretty sure he was weak..but then having a third player all in on the flop kinda sucke.d..

the line i was hoping to take on the flop was c/r the villian and cap if needed, and then lead the turn even if i'm UI...and if I hit go for a check/raise

still not sure on best line for the times we hit the turn against a agg. opponent who may raise a lead and then we can get a 3bet in, but will almost always call down if we do lead...and usually bet if checked to.

thoughts or just standarddrd?

bad call in SB. 3 or fold, depending on how the OG raiser is. You seem to know about the aggression needed in SHLHE so i don't really need to explain why.

I probably spew and lead all streets early on if I want to obtain a really aggressive image, but I like your line here.

I don't like the flop play only because BB is shortstacked. Let's say you all have like 10bbs worth in front, then I like the check-raise

villain will c-bet over 90% of the time

your check-raise on the flop isolates
and your action from then on I would hope would be: bet turn, bet river hoping he folds his A high

otherwise, u played it fine, I would've simply called w/bb shortstacked there

I fold preflop.
98s is not a hand I want to play short handed, out of position, to a raise.

After the flop, with BB all in, I see no reason to bet.
I check the turn.
And would check-fold the river.

Yeah, you don't want to be doing a lot of cold-calling in the SB. Your best move is just to fold this preflop. I'll occasionally cold-call playing 15/30 with the 2/3 blind structure, but with a 1/2 structure, I never do it unless it's a big multi-way FR pot or something. The turn and river pretty much play themselves since there's no side pot and you've got no shot at the main.

4-handed i'd generally 3-bet from SB, but i suck at SH. folding is probably better.

flop is fine IMO, despite BB being all-in. we're fine getting all the money in on the flop, with our yummy equity. it doesn't really matter, if we feel the BB is short enough that he'll go all-in even if we hit our draw.

after that, i like slowing down on the flop and turn. often i'll lead this turn, but with BB all in, we can't win much without a showdown, and our fold equity has almost no value. since button rarely folds any of our outs, and we no longer have an equity advantage against him (presumably), betting is pointless.

Fold pre.

Postflop looks good.

QFT. I was like..."Where's my response? Ohh...the jack arse double-posted."

Here's what I wrote before I read responses:

Jordan, this is typically a fold pre-flop. Short-handed as we are, we're looking for "big cards". Suited connectors are cheap, volume starting hands that are ideally played IP. Being in the SB, I'm almost always 3-betting or folding against one player (LP raiser). I believe I've learned that concept correctly, but someone else feel free to chime in.

Assuming we cold-call pre-flop (which has the benefits of dragging the BB along and letting us play against a bad villain), I think I'm with the others in wanting to lead the flop and 3-bet/cap if necessary.

As for plans on hitting, our straights are obviously a lot sneakier than our flushes. The problem is that based on our button opponent and the all-in player's cap, I think we're better off leading any turn that we hit...cause he's quite likely to check behind.
