Is anyone else going to be buying any to sell on Ebay? I'm going to be getting 3 to sell. They are selling on Ebay for 1200+ so who knows what people will pay for them when it gets closer to x-mas.

I hope you have friends going with you because you can't just go in and buy 3. Limit 1 per customer. I'll most likely be camping out 10hrs+ early and get one to sell. And for those that didn't know, I go to best buy with about 15 people thanksgiving evening (5ish) and we camp out until 9am the next morning for all the deals. (then of course to resell most of it online) Great experience though and lots of fun

I'm not sure if I want to camp for a PS3. After all the problem Sony's had with them I think I might wait for the next shipment to come out so they get a chance to fix any bugs.

Well obviously, if you thinking of keeping it to play yourself, you never want a first generation from the 1st shipment as there are always bugs. However it's great to get a 1st shipment if you intend to sell it.

Ebay regularly pulls auctions at companies requests if they feel that people are price gouging/exploiting the market. In tis case Sony is asking Ebay to put a cap on the amount an auction for a PS3 can go for in an effort to discourage people from buying multiple systems just to reseall them while Sony can't keep up with system demand.

I would just buy 2 PS3's...Sell them on ebay for 2x the price. Ship them in cardboard boxes...then sell 2 PS3 boxes for the same price because people are too stupid to read the info of an auction before they buy it.

Hmm...based on my calculations...I can get up to 6 of these bad boys if I can somehow get to walmart well before 12:01pm...then try to bank on either 1 or 2 meijers in town. Then if that's not the case...I will campout the best buy overnight. Of course me and my gf will be buying them each

People use Ebay to sell items at a price people are willing to pay. Is that not the whole concept of an auction?
If Sony is that concerned about everybody having the opportunity to buy one maybe they should have more made before releasing them.

Lower the price... good luck with that, they are already taking a huge loss on every system they sell. They have had multiple hardware failures during the launch process that has delayed them numerous times. They have to get the system out to compete with 360 and Wii or they are going to be so far behind that they will lose this round of the console wars.
360 already has a year on the market and well over 100 titles available and now their second generation of software is hitting.
The Wii has been getting way more publicity than the PS3 since E3 and is going to have a lot more systems available at launch, a lower price point, more launch titles, and they are actually making money on the system itself where Sony is losing money on each one they sell.
Ideally Sony would wait to be able to meet demands, but they can't afford to miss this holiday season. Only an idiot is going to buy a PS3 off ebay, Playstations have a horrible reputations for the first release of them being full of faulty hardware, and you want to know what kind of response you will get from Sony support when you told them you bought your new PS3 off ebay?
Sony wants those auctions under control because they know they have to deal with the fallout of them.

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=4934apparently what they got for sale was less than their preorders...so if you preordered from them, hope you do not get a phonecall...
side note there are AT LEAST 196 ps1 and ps2 titles that do not work on the ps3 - some don't play at all, most have no sound etc...sony says it'll get fixed in a patch eventually.

Since Target always has less people and opens at 8am, it should be the best choice. My guess would be people will start showing up at like 6 or 7pm. ****!!! You have no idea how pissed I am right now. The Best Buy around here has been camped for the past 24 hours, pretty standard and I expected that. Target has had people there since 6pm tonight which means they are going to be there for about 40 hours! I am soo pissed, the only hope I have now is to go to Walmart with my buddy in 2 hours. The walmart over here is 24/7 so they will be selling it at midnight but won't let lines form til 6am (3hrs from now). So basically there's like 50 people hoovering around, and I am expecting a crazy frenzy when 6am comes. Wish me luck!! I will sure need it.
