Wow, i never even considered the possibility that was Lila's dream sequence. I see nothing to support that contention.

sidenote: since this is a thread about Dexter, isn't it kinda stupid for everyone to still be using spoilers, six months after the season ended?

If I don't want to know the score of the football game I taped, i avoid sports highlight shows. If someone is idiotic enough to come into the dexter discussion thread and expect to not see spoilers from things several months ago, well...they're just stupid.

I agree...it is only negative inference that leads me to think that is a possibility.

As far as spoilers 6 months later go, no its not unreasonable. I only finished Season 2 yesterday, and only got into because of its brief stint on broadcast TV. Im sure there are many like me.

I haven't watched the show in probably over a year so please remind me if they ever featured dream sequences in the show before? I don't really recall them doing it so to bring it up now would be really lame

Yes, there have been at least a couple and they didnt have anything to indicate they were dreams, although he woke up immediately from them in the same scene.

I started watching the show late too, but I wouldn't read the thread or at least wouldn't read far enough into the thread to ruin it for me. Most functioning humans who wouldn't want the show ruined for them would do the same thing. The only things that should be blacked out is leaked info etc. about stuff that hasnt aired yet. I could maybe go for blacking things out 24 hrs since the shows been aired or maybe even a couple days but worrying about spoilers after 6 months is ridiculous.

They definitely had Dexter hallucinate Rudy's presence last season if that counts.
PMJackson21
I enjoyed last night's episode, although I think full frontal nudity of Rita is needed at this time.

My pet theory on this season: There is no way that drug dealer punk is the one cutting off pieces of skin from those bodies. I think it might be Jimmy Smits' character, but I could be way off base. Just watching the scenes from upcoming episodes, it seems he gets stalker like with Dexter, and maybe as a prosecuter he identifies with Dexter's vigilante attitude.
Jadaki
I agree with the first part, I don't think its the dealer either. My guess early on was that it's actually Smit's other brother, he seems like the gung ho crazy sort.

Yeah, I thought of that too.

Interesting to see how the new development in his life rita being pregnant works out.
jeff_536
See, I didn't get to watch Dexter til just now. So i didn't come into the thread, not wanting to see any spoilers.

anyhoo, as soon as i saw her making pudding, i actually said outloud (while sitting alone), Rita's pregnant.

Interesting twist.

the shows that they showed on CBS earlier this year...what season was that? I wanna buy a dvd but I couldn't tell by the packages which season I have already seen.

Dexter is a Showtime show, the syndication on CBS is not the threads problem. You don't put Family Guy season 1 spoilers up because they are reairing them on TBS right now.

So where can we actually discuss what's going on in the show?

I'm not gonna use spoilers anymore. If you don't want to know what happens, or if the show's on DVR DON'T VISIT THE THREAD UNTIL YOU'VE SEEN THE EPISODE.

Is there any doubt that Jimmy smitts and his brother are going to end up being killers and Dexter is going to have to off them? jesus christ, this show blows, I wish I could stop watching it

Smits is toast, but not for that reason, imo.
PMJackson21
I can't decide if I am enjoying this season or not. More killing, less baby talk please. Although I do enjoy how socially awkward Dexter is in certain situations.
Jadaki
The thing I like about this season is I really don't have a good idea where they are trying to take it.

Bastista's speech last night was one of the worst scenes I've seen on the show since Dokes was locked up in that swamp cell. So bad

I'm finally free from making plot comparisons between the books and show.

I read today that Dexter has been picked up by Showtime for two more seasons.

I thought what they did with angel last episode was interesting. starting to work on him as more than a two-dimensional character.
Jadaki
I like Angel, if this was following the books Laguerta would be dead, and Deb is a little less annoying than she used to be. I like the new cop who they are trying to get her to be a tattle tale on.
LadyGrey
I still hate Deb. Her character is just so contrived, with the over the top swearing and general tomboyishness. I doubt they'll get rid of her anytime soon though, sadly.

Dexter is still pretty much the only character that interests me in the whole show, but he interests me enough that I keep watching despite how cheesy and predictable every other person is.

Yeah I enjoyed it. Watching the 'scenes from next week', at the end was Miguel setting Dexter up by alerting the guards that the prisoner must have an accomplice?

I don't get the next episode scenes in Canada.
Moneyball16
I think it was still good tv, but I think it was subpar for Dexter. I was in a really pessimistic, pissy mood though so that could have changed things for me.
LadyGrey
I thought they were going to have whatsherface lose the baby, which would have been a real easy way out for that plotline. I also noticed that she claimed to be bleeding, yet she was wearing white trousers and there was no visible blood on them. Here is my artists representation of what it should have looked like:

She wouldn't get so freaked out about a little spotting, it would have to be a decent amount of blood. My picture was a bit of an exaggeration, but I do think that there would be visible splotches around the crotch region.

This used to be enough for me, it's not anymore. Maybe if Dexter was a hot female, I doubt I could resist watching a show about a hot female serial killer, no matter how poorly written.

I think all of the dialog is terribly written. No interaction between characters seems real or plausible. The show is basically humorless ( even though it pathetically tries to inject humor here and there), and every single non Dexter Character is basically 1 dimensional. I feel the show is written to be exceptionally corny, which is strange for a show about a serial killer to be corny, but the show manages it. I can't speak to this week's episode, as I have stopped watching the show.

Most of the interaction I don't mind. There are one or two characters whose presence can definitely spoil a scene (Deb and Masuka), but even Deb is getting better and the new cast additions this season have been pretty good. I like the woman who plays the wife of Jimmy Smit's character, I can't think of her name but she looks familiar.

It's really interesting what they are doing this season. That upcoming confrontation with the lawyer who is attempting to have Miguel disbarred will be fun to see how Dexter handles.
GWCGWC
The writing is lazy and the characters are completely unbelievable. I don't know if bad acting or the scripts lend themselves to making the characters so lame. It may be a chicken or the egg thing. I'll watch it since I'm hooked but it's just so laughably bad. It's a shame HBO didn't pick this up. They would have done it the right way.

I watched Mr. Brooks last night and it was amazing at how many things the writers of Dexter took directly from that movie. Of course, the writers of the movie probably took things from other movies, but damn.

I don't know if it's been said on here before or not, but Dexter is based off a series of novels by Jeff Lindsay. There is defintiely a similarity between Dexter and Mr. Brooks, but the storyline for Dexter was in book form 3 years before Mr. Brooks was released.

BTW..I read the first book and I thought it sucked balls...as corny as the TV show can be, it's 10x better than the book imo.

Yea, actually I read the first two books before this series was announced. Since then, I've read the third book which really sucked compared to the first two.

The show completely moved away from the plot and character traits of the book version. It's understandable but I think they would have done much better with a different direction and HBO production.

Mr. Brooks is a sucky movie btw.

I read the first book after the first season aired, and if I remember right, the series followed it pretty closely. I really thought it was poorly written and I haven't had any sort of inclination to read the others.

Agreed on Mr. Brooks. I thought the first half was pretty good but it falls apart after that. I'll always have a soft spot for any movie that involves Dane Cook getting brutally murdered, though.

Wow this season has really whimpered along.. It's a great show and worth watching, but i agree with the majority..

Everything is do @#$#@ predictable. The last "oh $#!t" moment was when Lila and Doakes laid eyes on each other, and Lila 180'd everything by turning up the gas and walking out of the cabin. That was *phenomenal*.

Still hold a soft spot for Deb.. Her little tonsil hockey episode with the CI was 3 episodes too late to even keep up a pretense of being shocking, tho.

Right now the only really interesting storylines are Ramon, Miguel, and to an extent Angel.

Like i said, it's worth watching, but it's losing the momentum it gained toward the end of Season Two.

Yeah, it seems like Dexter doesn't kill as many people this season which makes it a little less interesting. Last season the few episodes toward the end had me riveted, I couldn't wait to see what happened. I am wondering what they are planning for the finale this time, I have seen some good predictions on here that Miguel/Ramon will have done something really bad. The skinner doesn't feel like a big enough case to be finale material, but maybe they are about to turn the volume up... although this episode with the new lead it feels like that plotline is on the way out.
Cappy37
3 things I'd like to see this season

1. ) Deb steals Angel's new flame away from him. (bonus points for the IA investingating quinn joining in for some hair-pulling)

2. ) Quinn is the copycat carver and knows Dexter offed the original

3. ) Miguel's brother making Dexter's wedding one to remember.

That'd be a good start.

Between Shield and Dexter, it's been like 3 weeks of filler.. I'm clammoring for some real action. i hope you are right and it starts to amp up soon.
