You'll notice I very rarely called his PF raises. I did this not just because I had hands I don't like, but also because he never mixed up his raises. He never limped with a strong hand, at least not that I found.

This is the first time I've really attempted to play small ball in heads up. In my other heads-up matches I've really tried to push my big hands but for whatever reason, it never really worked out for me, so I thought I would try this style.
I really feel more comfortable playing this style too, especially when he started with the chip lead. I felt that once I had the chip lead I really had him on his heels and I could just keep chopping away at him until I had a real hand.
As I mentioned in the OP, the villian had played the final table very aggressively, and at the same time shown down some strong hands, so I was going to continue to let him build pots for me when I had legitimate hands. He turned out to play the heads-up part less aggressively, but like you said, it ended up working out for me.
