So a few months ago I took my shot at the $35 PLO8 Turbo sit and gos at Stars and its safe to say I got crushed, I found the games to be far tighter, but maybe I panicked and started to push spots I wouldn't usually. I'm looking for anyone who can offer me advice on how to make the transition and whether I should make the tranisition. Should I stick to the comfortable $16 buy-in or bite the bullet and try and increase my $35 sample size. Bankroll is not a problem. Thanks!

I would try to increase the sample size for the 32's. It seems to me like you just need to adjust, and since it seems like you are winning pretty frequently with the 16's I don't see why you shouldn't take the shot.

Here's my experience at the $32+3 plo8 SnGs @ stars (In fact I think this is as profitable as the $200 cash games).

1. Keep the pots small to increase your fold equity. I will only play strongly with AAxx hands.

2. No need to gamble during the early stages, let the players knock each other outs. Maintain your stack sizes beyond 1500 (at least 1K) before blinds go to 100/200.

3. Be patient. There's no need to be panic, and that's very important. Many players start to play loose because the blinds are going up fast. That's something you can bank on (and this applies to $55/$100+ Turbo NLH SnG as well). There were several times I got bad beats and down to 500 or below, but I held on to myself and did not panic, and came back with nice finishes.

4. When you've established a tight image, then you will have many stealing opportunities at the late stages.

Everything else is pretty standard, tight front loose end, play both-way hands, bet hands that no one seems interested (for example, if you are in position and everyone checks twice then it's safe for you to steal even you have nothing), etc.

Hmmmmm...

BB/100 in cash games for a good player is ~10. In 1/2, this should equal an average rate of $10/hr.

You need an ROI of 28.5% to achieve the same hourly rate $35*.285 = ~$10/hr, assuming they avg 1 hour each.

At the results from the larger sample size (ROI: 29.47%) in the $15 SNG's this seems possible.

I am actually surprised.

Plo8 cash games (at higher limits) were dying at PS until recently PP decided not to receive more funds from the US players. It seems like PS has more plo8 cash games going now, but previously a lot of times those tables were filled with vultures and it made the game less profitable comparing to the SnGs where more donkeys were present.
