I was playing in the $120 + 30 tourney at the local Indian Casino here in Phoenix. About 16 players left - top 20 play (11 - 20 all get $247). The guy in the 10 seat is playing very loosely, especially before we get to the money. Blinds are 1k/2k, I've got about 24k and he has about 40k. He raises to 10k when I'm in the small blind. He has regularly raised my blinds and I haven't been able to defend them because it would really mean my tournament life. One thing I have noticed is that the guy will call a reraise if he makes that big bet with some questionable holdings.
This time I look down to two kings. I push all in and guy goes into the tank. He counts it out, puts it back, counts it out again. I ask for the clock and the dealer says "what's the clock?" The tournament director comes over and I ask him to put the clock on the guy.
My thinking is this - me putting the clock on him will make him think that I am nervous - that I want him to decide soon. I hope that he interprets it as weakness. He finally calls with 8s and I double up and cruise to 6th place.
But thinking about it - has anyone ever noticed a tell in asking for the clock in a similar situation?
