was I right to call this down and did I have enough odds to call n the river. This BB is a joke so my flop raise was to get them to tell me if they had an Ace or not

I think you're ahead 1 in 8 times. He's loose, huh. Makes me want to raise somewhere else... :?

Nah. Nice hand.

However loose, I am still wary of someone calling two-fold pre-flop and then betting where the ace comes.

But that is all on paper, I wasn't watching him on the table.

as for the river, i agree with wrto, two pair here is probably good at least once in 8 times.

a question: given your original read when you raised the flop, why not continue to show strength on the turn? the extra bet on the flop is entirely read-based, it's not a move you would make on a rock. therefore, why wouldn't an extra bet on the turn be of equal value? i could use some explanation or assistance here, but from various things I have been reading recently, it is of more expected value to represent your bluffs (if you believe them to be of value given proper reads on the fish) on every street.

Just random thoughts on this, any feedback would be good on this, seeing as how it is mostly speculative.

The raise on the flop was for info. The stop n go let us know he had a piece of the flop. So we are either way behind or way ahead. If we raise, he folds and we win nothing when he has a bad hand. If we raise, he 3-bets us and we are forced to give up the pot when he has a good hand (maybe?).

Calling down was good.

Do you see an argument here for a raise on the river, given the information about the player?

not really.

I think hero's play is pretty standard.

could be a scary river when he has a jack
