When you get a chance, go see the movie "The Departed." It's amazing and should (at least temporarily) renew your faith in movies.

Man that is a lot of TV. Most of those shows follow the same basic formula which I can't stand. TV sucks right now in my opinion.

you must be high. tv right now is the best it has been in years. the only basic formula is that most of them are an hour long.
monkey forgot the office too, which is the best comedy on tv right now.

In the past you would never see movie stars ever do a TV show. Now TV is filled with them. The movie industry has been faltering for years and TV is where it is at. You may not like the TV that is out but even movie execs admit they are losing the battle.

That's because it's a remake of a Hong Kong movie, sure the talent is American but they had to get a story somewhere else.

I think that's why you're seeing so many "movie" actors doing tv now. The major networks realized that cable stations were on to something with shows like the shield and rescue me etc. The networks are trying to capitalize on that same kind of buzz, but, for the most part, they won't allow them to be gritty or "real" enough. They're getting closer to duplicating those kinds of well done and successful shows, but they're not there yet, for all the reasons laid out in the first episode of Studio 60.

And they never will be for a handful of reasons, including the freedom that cable has and they don't. I don't think they even want the freedom, to be honest. They seem to almost fight AGAINST loosening restrictions.

24, Lost, and the Office are better than any movies. Curb Your Enthusiasm is also great (as is seinfeld and family guy)
Star Wars and Lord of the Rings are awesome though.

dutch you really should watch at least the first episode of Studio 60, I think you might really relate to what is said in that show. It's themes deal with what you're saying.
I think you'll get a kick out of Judd Hirsch's rant a la Network.
