As you can see this is my first post here and I apologize if it's a little long or I'm posting in the wrong section.
I made it to Round 3 on the PS MM Millions Round 3 on Oct. 1 and I just wanted to ask if anyone has had any experience in that tournament to bounce off some ideas. It should be about 950 players and the top 5 get a paid trip to Bahamas + at least $6k guaranteed. Places 6-9 get a paid trip + buy-in at the WPT event there in January.
I would consider myself very tight aggressive, yet unpredictable because I am a sucker for the suited connectors and I will play them in a raised pot out of position if 1 or 2 other people call. I love implied odds.
More specifically, I've been wondering about the starting stacks being 2500 instead of the normal 1500 so it's going to be somewhat of a deep stack tournament, or at least moreso than what I'm used to on PS. I've been contemplating about whether I should just wait around until Level 7 to start really playing when the antes kick in or to play small ball from the get-go to try to build up some chips early. The players in the first 2 rounds seemed like complete idiots and I know they will be better as the rounds go on, but I just have a feeling it will be another donkfest (just a little tighter with preflop requirements). What do you guys think? It's always very hard for me to just sit around and fold every KQ, AJ or AQ preflop no matter what, especially against weak players. I'm kind of leaning towards playing extremly rocky early then change it up when everyone thinks I only play monsters so I can take advantage of a tight image and make some nice bluffs later on. I'm just worried about playing so tight because I may not get paid off when I do pick up a big hand and every time I raise pf, I'll only pick up the blinds. Or does anyone think I'll get paid off anyway? Then there's also the possibility of getting low stacked and maybe having to go all-in on a coin flip for my whole stack which I never like having to do.
On the flip-side, if my table all starts out playing very tight also, it's going to be profitable to be raising every other pot which would be ideal to build up some chips. I know every situation is circumstantial, but I'm trying to sort out my thoughts and I would appreciate any ideas on big field tournaments or other feedback. Thanks everyone.
