I have $55 infront of me, I have been playing ABC poker. Villain seems 'ok', I didnt pick up any special patterns on this guy. No typical button bet monkey, or overly aggro/ passive.

He raises OTB to 3, I repop to 8 with AA without the As. He calls. Pot is ~16.

Flop is T icon_suit_spade.gif T icon_suit_heart.gif 5 icon_suit_spade.gif

I bet 12, he calls. Pot is 30.

Turn is 4 icon_suit_heart.gif .

I? (Hero has 35 left, villain 30)

My thinking..I probably have the best hand. Only hand I have to charge is AKs, but its only one combo. He MIGHT have KQs. Question is, how am I gonna get paid. If I bet, only a donkey would pay me off with a worse hand.
Whats my best action here?

This one is confusing. The flat call on the flop means one of 3 things:

1. He has 2 spades
2. He is calling with intention of bluffing the turn
3. He flopped a freaking monster

You defined your hand pretty well as an overpair / AK or AQ preflop, I think you get the most value here by check/raising the turn.

A lot of hands take a stab here (Middle pairs, spades, total air), and I don't think you can justify laying down aces on that board without a huge read on the villain.

You are right though, continuing to value bet would be EV suicide in my mind. Only better hands are calling you down here most of the time. Sure you risk giving a free card to flush draw, but I think you gain more value out of bluffs/weaker hands then you lose by giving a free card to a flush.

don't talk yourself into check/calling here. There is plenty in the pot. We don't have to stack a guy everytime we have AA. Push the turn because giving AKs a free draw is horrible.

I agree. You don't wanna give him any more free cards. If you check the turn, he is going to push 80% of the time, and your gonna call. Might as well push here. There is a good chance he has KK, QQ, JJ here too as I think a $3 raise preflop in $50 is very big.

Yeah, I guess you are right, I push here everytime and took it for granted. When the guy folded I thought I left money on the table.

Anyone think our plan of action changes if we had position on the river? If this were shed, AKs is a small percentage of his holdings and he's got mid pairs here often enough that I might get fancy and try to extract a bluff/loose call on the river by checking the turn w/ position.

Shove it. With two spades on the board I don't see to many slow play a ten here.

I don't think this is good advice...or I am misunderstanding.

If we think he is pushing 80% of the time here when checked to, we have to check this turn 100% of the time.

That kind of preflop raise only says overpair/AK to me.

This was my thinking. Push the turn.

what would be sexy is c/r the turn ai
simo_8ball
Check the turn. Not many people can resist semibluffing there.
