I have $55 infront of me, I have been playing ABC poker. Villain seems 'ok', I didnt pick up any special patterns on this guy. No typical button bet monkey, or overly aggro/ passive.
He raises OTB to 3, I repop to 8 with AA without the As. He calls. Pot is ~16.
Flop is T

T

5
I bet 12, he calls. Pot is 30.
Turn is 4

.
I? (Hero has 35 left, villain 30)
My thinking..I probably have the best hand. Only hand I have to charge is AKs, but its only one combo. He MIGHT have KQs. Question is, how am I gonna get paid. If I bet, only a donkey would pay me off with a worse hand.
Whats my best action here?
This one is confusing. The flat call on the flop means one of 3 things:
1. He has 2 spades
2. He is calling with intention of bluffing the turn
3. He flopped a freaking monster
You defined your hand pretty well as an overpair / AK or AQ preflop, I think you get the most value here by check/raising the turn.
A lot of hands take a stab here (Middle pairs, spades, total air), and I don't think you can justify laying down aces on that board without a huge read on the villain.
You are right though, continuing to value bet would be EV suicide in my mind. Only better hands are calling you down here most of the time. Sure you risk giving a free card to flush draw, but I think you gain more value out of bluffs/weaker hands then you lose by giving a free card to a flush.
