W000t! Awesome!
Actually it was a pretty boring game for the most part, but the 3rd period opened up and was very exciting. Thomas got beat a few times, but thankfully the post was solid!
We hold 6th place for the time being, and play the Islanders again tomorrow night. Every game is crucial.

Second start for Rask against Phi tonight, tough team to go out and see action against in your second NHL start BUT Phi is 27th in the league in shots on goal, so perhaps he won't see as much of the rubber that Thomas has been seeing of late.

and for the second time in two Philly/Boston games this year, a Flyer gets a game misconduct for ramming a Bruins head into the boards.
Scott Hartnell following in the footsteps of Keith Jones.
great job team orange!

is it a coincidence that this the 4th major suspendable hit that the Flyers will be charged with???
Maybe they need to suspend Paul Holmgren for an extended period and fine his a serious fine, ie $1million...
or start losing draft picks....Its really getting out of hand...I think the hit last night was worse than the one on Bergeron....

It was. You have no idea how angry I am. That was the 3rd or 4th (I can't even keep track anymore) concussion for the Bruins this year. It seems like every other game I see, a Bruin goes into the boards hard and doesn't move. And every time I see it now, I think about Bergeron and how bad it could be.

I just did some reading, and I think there's been 3 Bruins concussions this year. Ward missed 2 games, but he's back now, Bergeron and now Alberts. I hope it's not serious and he doesn't miss much time.

2 game suspension for Hartnell.
WHat sucks about the hit is that the guy was already down, so hitting him serves no purpose, a stupid hit that was dangerous, 2 games is a little lite but he didn't look to hurt the guy. He made a mistake by chosing to hit him.

WHAT??????????????
Two games? Hartnell should be gone for 10+, how on earth do not consider that deliberate?
Flyers claim:
“I asked Colin what was behind his thought process and he just felt Scott could have stopped,” Holmgren said. “He tried to stop. The video clearly shows snow from both feet. His momentum more than anything carried him into the player in a vulnerable position.
And yet:
“You can’t worry about repercussions finishing your check,” Hartnell said. “I guess I could have skated away and not finish my check but that’s part of my game. Everyone in here finishes their check.”

Wow. Just wow. This is very disappointing.
The sad thing is, if they keep going light with the punishments on this kind of thing then the players aren't going to go out of their way to quit doing it. Do they need someone to die before they start giving out real punishments?

Another 2 game suspension, well done NHL.

Gametime soon. Boston's in Florida. We've struggled against them, so it would be nice to get a win tonight. Thomas is starting..and he's been really bad against Florida.. I forget what his record was, but I think it's 0 wins, and over 5 GAA against them. Time to improve that record!
Also great news for tonight, Alberts is playing. Apparently he didn't have a concussion from that stupid ass hit.
Go Bruins!

Wow, another ugly win by the Bruins. Thomas with a steal, as he came up huge a number of times in this game, especially in the 3rd period. I think he has a shutout curse on him though, with another late 3rd period goal to ruin the shutout.
Kobasew scored a goal, so Serge should be happy. The Bruins are 3-2 on their current road trip, and move into a 4 way tie with Montreal, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. Based on tie breaking procedures we are in 5th place currently (game in hand on NJ and Mon, and losing the tie breaker with Philly due to having a worse goals for/against ratio).

I watched the highlights last night and it said he twisted his ankle during the game. It showed the replay but it was on a nothing play. He just pushed across to get to a tipped pass that didn't even hit the net and he must have twisted his ankle. Looks like Rask might get the Leafs Saturday now.

Bruins Trade:
Bruins acquire Alex Auld from Phoenix
for
Nate DiCasmirro and a 5th round pick in 2009
interesting that they go and get another goalie
Also how is it that Alex Auld brings a draft pick and prospect and Bryzgalov brings back nothing and has to be waived..??

I don't think this will motivate the players. It will motivate Ferguson to want the Leafs to win this game more than another but to a Jason Blake this game is as important as a game against any other team (except maybe the Islanders). The only player with a little motivation might be Raycroft but I don't think he will affect the score of the game. If he is playing it is probably out of reach at that point.

I don't understand. Manny is getting back soon, Thomas is only out for a week or so, Rask is looking good, why did Chiarelli feel the need to get another goalie? I'm so confused.
I was pissed last night. We got 3 goals in the first period against a team that hadn't given up more than 2 goals in 8 games, and then we choke big time. That was just pitiful.
Now we have a tough game against Montreal tonight, I don't feel very good about it.
