Don't see this movie . It is a steaming pile of horsecrap. It is just about the worst film noir movie I've ever seen. the last 45 minutes are absurd and literally nonsensical. Huge disappointment, as I love De Palma.

and theis move did officailly place Scarlett Johanson as the worst actress in hollywood since denise richards. It's a good thing Johanson is so smoking hot, because she's completely worthless as an actress.

I have hated her since i saw her for the first time in ghost world. I thought "lost in translation" was good, DESPITE her wooden and lifeless performance in it. She just has this glassy, wide eyed, emotionless glazed look on her face at all times. Hate her.

Oh I know. I'm saying he was good at the time he made those two films, but recently he has made a lot of turds.

what does it say about depalma's career when the trailers for this film hype him as "the director of scarface", which came out in 1983 and is pretty worthless?

Well, here's your problem! You went and saw the Black Deliah instead of the Black Dahlia...it must have been made by DePalma's equal in Mexico Jorge Depalbergo...no wonder it sucked

I heard the movie was poop; I'm usually "that guy" that agrees with the average movie critic.

Scarlett is good, though. Bad writing can make the best actor/actress seem like crap, and although I didn't see ghostworld, I suspect that's what happened in this movie and in "The Island." See some of Woody Allen's recent movies with her in it and I think you'll change your mind.

So we liked the Illusionist? That's towards the top of my "must-see" list.

BTW, I work with a chick who looks like Scarlett, but has an even better body (more athletic).

I saw the illusionist.. It's okay. Some really excellent acting performances.. but again, I didn't like the ending. It's like M. Night Shamalamadingdong took over dirrecting in the last 30. Good, but not great.

I gave the movie 10/10 for Scarlett.

I just finished watching this on DVD and it was simply AWFUL.

Very rarely do I rent a movie, and return it without watching the entire thing, but this movie was one of those times.


I got through the first 30-40 minutes, and simply couldn't take it anymore. I turned it off and returned it that night. I'm glad to hear I didn't miss anything after I shut it off.

I tried to warn you guys. But the Siren Song of Scarlett Johanson was too alluring. I can understand that.

Forgot to pop in a review.

Saw this a while ago. Looks good from a cinematographic standpoint, but the plot was overcomplicatingly simpleminded. Kind of like Chinatown Meets The Big Sleep Minus Valid Plot Twists Plus Transparent Attempt(s) to manipulate the viewer. An inconsequential movie.

Apparently Fincher's new Zodiac is quite good, though...

I had no idea what was going on in this movie... walked out of the room we were watching it an hour through.

Simply horrible.

Jeez, I guess I'll remove this from my Netflix whathaveyou.

hey i liked denise richards acting in one scene in wild things.

QFT THat was proably the last movie I saw in the theatre based solely on the hottness of the actresses ( and the fact that they would be making out). The next one I will see is scarlett johanson's.. Amazon.. yummy.
