Full Version: Playing Multiple Tables

Hello everyone,

well I think it is time for me to try playing multiple tables. I would like if someone who knows how to do this to answer a few questions.

First off, I tried doing it with 2 tables only and the constant buzzing from the second table when I am involved in a hand at the first one is really driving me crazy. So what is the the trick here.

Second, how tight do you play? I assume the idea of playing say 8 tables at the same time is that you wait for a monster hand and play it very aggressivelly. So how big a hand would you play? Top 10 hands? Also how aggressivelly? Large raise pre-flop, all-in preflop?

And finally, what is the lowest cash limit to do this? I noticed that the lower you go in limit, wilder is the game... is that a good or bad thing for playing multiple tables?

I normally play 1 table at 0,25$/0,50$ at a time and make maybe 10-20$ per hour if I am lucky, usually on 1 or 2 hands. I suppose that playing multi-tables will reduce the amount of cash you can win at each table since you don't have time to watch how your opponents play. Also being tighter will usually mean less action when you play.

Well, I hope someone can give me a few pointers on this. I don't have a 21 inch monitor. I have a 19 inch and a 17 inch so I would probably be able to play 2 or 3 tables max.

Play at a site with resizable tables and go to town. Please check out either pokertracker or pokeroffice (tracks play and shows your statistics while you play). If you play limit, its pretty mechanical and doesn't really matter how you are playing against at lower limits, so keep that in mind. In NL, its a little different on who your opponents are, but at low limits its pretty much ABC poker.

If you want to know how to get the software for free or next to nothing, send me a pm.

I watched a video on www.pokertips.org and now I understand... when you play multiple tables you really focus for a few secs at each.

I tried today with 2. A money table and a tournament. Worked fine. Only annoying when you get really short handed at the tourney table because it requires a lot of your attention and if you have a big pocket pair at the money table it's a bit harder.

When I am really comfortable with that I will try adding a second money table and grow from there.

Definatley join one of the resizable table sites and change your resolution to fit the most on the screen. The tables are smaller, but don't overlap.

Games like PLO, Stud 8 or any fixed limit game are easier to multi table then NL holdem. Once you get used to it, it's like second nature. You know what to pay attention to and when.

I would also advice to work on your notes some more too.. since your not paying as much attention to each individual table.

I am surprised about that. If you play a limit game, you will have to make bet after bet after raise after bet where in NL Hold'em you often win pre-flop or on the flop... the amount of attention at each table should be much higher no? I never play limit games, they annoy the hell out of me, but I am still interested in understanding what you are saying... maybe I could try it.

As for the notes, yes I guess that is true, I have not been using them much but I should

i started 4tabling immediately when I put in money to play $1/2 simply because I wanted to clear bonuses faster. Before that, I had played 3 sng's at a time MAX, most of the time just 2 at a time. After awhile, I got used to it and now I moved from full ring to 4tabling short handed games. practice practice practice, oh, and try not to let the adrenaline rush get to you, and before you know it, it becomes second nature
