Full Version: I Can't Play 25nl

Hey guys, I think I have a problem playing 25NL, last month I was playing 50NL and life was good. I was making money, I even had a +15 buyin session. But due to my poor spending habbit and the fact that I moved into a new place which took most of my bankroll.

So I decided to put $250 bucks on Party poker and see how it goes. And I have found that I really suck when the money is just a little bit smaller. I was making calls that I shouldn't have, pushing when I shouldn't have. Now I have played 30k hands in the last 2.5 monhts or so and I am winning at 5ptbb/100 so I am a winning player.

Anyone know how to get better at moving down levels? I might just have to work some OT to get the money to play the 50NL.

Also I have found the 25NL on party kind of Nitty in the afternoons EST. I think there are a lot of grinders out there.

Sounds to me like you may have answered your own question........

Get back to your normal game and you will probably do fine.

Good luck.

Every stake is different and there are a lot of reasons why $25 can be tricky at times, and most of the time it involves you outplaying yourself =P. There's absolutely NO point in being tricky or deceptive at this level. In fact, don't bluff here much at all, there's no point. I bluff maybe once every 1-2k hands (major bluff beyond c-betting that is).

I am under similar circumstances and grinding out $25 NL, so I feel your pain. My best advice is to move on over to FTP where you can farm table info while you are at work and have stellar reads on your opponents when you play. $25NL brings such a wide range of talented, untalented, lagtard, aggressive, nittish players, that I'd hate to play it on any site I couldn't farm data.

As for your win rate, people love to inflate their win-rates. I have 23,000 players in PT. In the top 100 players for which I have hand histories for (top 100 hand counts), most are in the 1-3 PTBB/100 range. The highest is 11 PTBB/100 over 4k hands, which is pretty small as a few months ago I went for 12 PTBB/100 over 8k at $50 6-max (also small). The point of saying all that is that 5 PTBB/100 is a very nice win-rate.

The only time I've tried the 25NL @ PP is for bonus clearing.
I agree that there are a wide range of unpredictable players. Move back to 50 or 100

But thy to get away from the need to farm data, it's nice to have to pick out the grinders but it will not help you find the short life flounders that we all like.

yeah lucky me I just realized that I have 1k coming from Mansion Sports so 50NL here I come. It shouldn't be too long till I hit 100NL.

I hadn't had good results at 25 or 50 nl so I did what every reasonable poker player would do.......move up, right?

I decided to go play 100 nl. I have the br w/ 25 buy ins. The reason I did it was because the money meant more to me. I put more thought into my decisions and focused more. I also cut down on the number of tables I played. I might be crazy but in my limited experience I'm finding weaker players at the 100nl (go figure).

I am 100% sure that in the afternoon on Party Poker the 50NL are much softer than the 25NL at least eastern standard time.
