Full Version: Shorthanded Sng's

I've played a couple $30+3 5 player sng's in the past few days,
and thought you guys that are good with the "math" could help me out
as far as what results, etc you'd need to make the game profitable.

It only pays the top 2, at $105 for 1st and $45 for 2nd.

Seems to me to be a pretty "top heavy" payout scale, which
is great if you win a lot of them, but to play 1/2 hour or so and
get second, for a profit of $12 doesn't seem like a great idea.

Anyone have any insight, etc?

For the 6 I've played, I have 3 1sts, and a 2nd, so I'm doing ok
to this point, but I'm also trying to think long term here.

Appreciate it.

You need more than x firsts and y seconds where 105x + 45y + 0z = 33(x + y + z) where z is the number of SNGs where you bust out.
Actuary
party has 6 Man and they pay 60%/40% instead of 70%/30%

so it works out you can lose 1 and get 2nd in the next, and end up with 9% ROI.

Yours definitly reward 1st and thus you should play accordingly.
I find the play pretty bad in the 6 Man, and if I'm patient, getting to the top 3 is pretty easy, albeit I'm the shoartest stack a lot. Then hopefuly I survive the bubble.

In your case, I'd take more risks early.
It has the added beneift of increasing your $$$ per hour as you can bus and join another tourney. However, the catch is that these are full of others that over play their hands and if you adapt a maniacal style, you will likel cash musch less than a paitent one. For me Parties structure of paying 2nd 40% ( $72 in a 6 Man $30+3) allows for my more modest style and I can slip into 2nd w/o feeling as if I wasted 45 minutes.. I'm not a good bluffer/big stack bully, so "going for first" would take some adjustments in my game.

what am I saying? lol

Think about coming to Party
Don't discount getting 2nd to much. 60% of the prize pool is paid out after the 3rd place is eliminated. You're only fighting for 40% more when HU. Nonetheless, of course, that's where all the profit is.
Practice your HU play, this is a good way, since you''l be in final two a lot.

not sure I really said anything there.

I like the 6 Man also becuase you see more hands at each level and can really get decent reads, as much as donks can be read.
