Are there any good places to play in Vancouver bc? I will be up there for a week. If so are there any different rules that I should know about?

yea river rock is your best bet. only about 5 minutes from the airport and it has the biggest poker room in canada(abot 30 tables). 10% rake up to 4 dollars but thats standard for casino poker rooms in canada. lots of 1/2 nl games going and some 5/10nl too sometimes higher. also have omaha h/l and limt he games. thy have daily earlybird tourneys and sometimes bigger ones and i see they have some plo8 tourneys on occasion. if you need a place to stay the hotel is awesome with all rooms being suites(stay away from the mini bar...lol)most other casinos in town have poker rooms aswell but they ussually have only 6-10 tables. o yea and the last time i was there the bad beat jackpot was close to 100k

River Rock in Richmond,Boulvard in coquitlam and Cascades in Langley(my home town). All have muiltple limts from 1/2 NL,5/10 NL and 2/4 and 4/8 limt.

RIverrock is by far the biggest room with probly 10 times the people and more skilled players, it allows booze on the floor aswell. Cascades is fun with alot of amateurs, drunk guys and grandma's mostly at limit tho. Its also allows booze on floor. Boulvard dosnt allow drinking at table, theres about 12-15 tables(rought guess) and they have earlybird donkument at 10 a.m every morning for $24 out of 64 or 88 people max, they also have a $100 buy in on saturday out of 88 max.

Hope that helps abit and have a good trip,im also having home cash game on Friday if your feeling lucky icon_biggrin.gif

If you're in Whistler you're looking at a 2-hour drive or more. That's not exactly a poker destination.

River Rock is definitely the best cardroom in Canada.

you won't have any problems finding home games in whistler, there are plenty. There are also several weekly tournaments you will be able to find, outsiders usually welcome.

Welcome to BC OP, Where are you staying as that will likely determine where you play.

What limits and games are you looking for and if it fits with my schedule I may be able to help out with driving to some of the casinos.

PM me if you are interested.

Hey Josh, what's your home game buy-in?
I live in Abbotsford and usually play at Cascades on Friday nights, you may even have seen my FCP hat. icon_biggrin.gif

The River Rock is the place for NL the 1-2 games are crushable, higher limits watch your but.

If you are a middle limit player 10-20 to 30-60 games are at the Holiday Inn on Broadway.
ThreeBet
As mentioned by others, every Casino has a Poker Room .... all offering diffrent games. River Rock pretty much only has 1/2 NL and 4/8 Limit .... 5/10NL usually on weekends only with some verfy good players.

Edgewater is a bit of a joke, but the 4/8 full kill can be a ton of fun! Lots of "experts" who see every flop (half of them capped) then go passive with big hands ... I made $1100 one time in a 4 hour session!

I go there when I just want to take a break from my usual 20/40 Limit full kill game at the Broadway Casino. This game is the best game in the city in my opinion .... minumum 2 tables every day with a good mix of good and bad players. If you can handle the swings this is the game you want to play. I'm up 25K in the last two months playing about 25 hrs a week in this game.

As others have said, River Rock is great. The games were pretty soft when I was there in May. Contrary to what another poster said, they had a decent selection of games when I was there.

Also, FYI, no free alcohol there due to a provincial law. I ordered a Molson (hey, I was in Canada after all) and flipped the cocktail waitress a $1 chip, and imagine my surprise when she said "Um, that will be $4.00" (or whatever outrageous price it was).
