Well this sucks.

Roethlisberger had an emergency appendectomy.

LOL, yeah right... "out for a week," he's not gonna take a game snap for at least 2 months. Minimum!

Memo to all athletes: don't ride motorcycles UNTIL your career is over!
The Czar
No way they stick with Charlie Batch. Time to call Jeff George again.

Yes, because appendicitis is caused by motorcycle accidents.

If you start vomiting, you may want to see a doctor.

I'm laughing, not at Ben, just Steelers fans.

I wouldn't count on that. Probably week 3 or 4 is a lot more likely.

No duh... but I'm sure the accident didn't help prevent internal injuries either.

Like I said 8 weeks at the earliest AND if he does take a snap sooner than that it will be to take a knee at the end of a game. Mark my words!

BTW, I must be the only one that smells this cover up a mile away, yeah sure he probably actually did have this surgery but he wasn't gonna start the season regardless. Ok sure so he played a few series in the pre-season and I bet that's when the decision was made NOT to start him. Steelers fans would have gone ape $hit if Ben didn't start without a good enough excuse. His body still needs to recover from the accident that happened only 3 months ago!

The Steelers are 0-4 (pre-season) for a reason, their star QB isn't 100% and won't be for a while.
LAS22
Big Ben has had a great streak of luck. Charlie could never get it done for the Lions...which means he'll probably throw for 325 yards and 4 touchdowns on Thursday.

Is this guarantee one that you're willing to bet on? I doubt it.

Yes, Ben wasn't healthy enough to play, so the Steelers concocted an elaborate scheme to fool their fans by risking his health even further by sending him out to take a few hits in a meaningless game.

Ben plays week 3.

Hell yeah I'd take that bet, how much? AND only if he plays the entire game of week 3 (yes, every snap). If you're so confident. Starting is one thing finishing is another.

lol... I was offering to bet you on your "he won't play until week 8" guarantee.

Either way I stand by it (full games played that is.) So guess you're a little too scared that he will not actually start week 2 like you imply.

You do understand the bigger picture I hope, the Steelers like all NFL teams are in business to make money plain and simple. A star QB out because of stupid motorcycle injury can and will cause the owners revenues to drop. As a owner wouldn't you much rather "spin" it to the fans in a way that might give them a glimmer of hope that Ben might start in a game or two. It's all about selling seats baby!

0-4 in pre-season might not mean anything but it sure does say a lot. Especially from a defending Super Bowl team.

Are you serious? Try to get your hands on Steelers tickets. Hell, try in the early 90's when they were a 7-9 and 8-8 team every year with the likes of Bubby Brister running the offense.

QFT

They should have a club for athletes who F'ed themselves up in motorcycle accidents. Rothelisberger, Kellen Winslow, Jeff Kent... who am I missing?
