Full Version: Am I Getting The Right Odds To Call

No reads on any of the players in the hand. Pre-flop, my plan was to take the pot down right there. Post flop I figured I was probably drawing only to a 10 for the straight. On the flop I was planning on check/fold until everyone else called the buttons bet. Was I getting the proper odds to call the flop bet?

I'd say you're on the bubble here. You've basically got 4 outs. Normally I wouldn't count the 10 of diamonds, but, since you've also got the Ace of diamonds, you've got the backdoor nut-flush, which adds one (virtual) out, so, I'll call it a wash. With 4 outs you need to be getting about 11-1 on your money. You're getting direct 6-1 odds, which doesn't cut it. For the implied odds to work out, you need to get the rest of one (or more) of the players stacks. I'm not sure that is going to be possible, as they seem to have weak hands. However, your straight will be reasonably disguised if it hits, and you might be able to get one of them to commit on the draw getting 2-1 (or better) on their money on the turn. And, if you don't hit on the turn, there's a small chance that it might get checked around and let you get a free river. Note, it's possible that your 3 ace outs might be good as well. If you think they are good, then I think this is a clear call.

I think you should have C-Bet the flop, around $5.
You still have outs if you get called, and may end up taking down
the pot, representing maybe AK or KK here, making people lay down
hands that are beating you.

If you get raised, you can probably just fold.

As played, I probably fold, but peeling a card isn't horrible, only due
to the fact that you're last to act to the $3 bet.
