I HATE THIS SPOT!

I'm not sure it's a good idea to fold in that spot when playing a LAG heads up. It sound like he's making this play with a bunch of hands other than sets, am I wrong?
Jordan
those stats aren't really laggy, are they?

My preference in how to play this flop.

1. Check/call
2. Check/raise
3. Check/fold
4. Bet/re-raise
5. Bet/call
6. Bet/fold

Take that for what it's worth..but, I really hate c-betting and then having to fold.

What's to explain?

If he's a LAG, I very likely have the best hand..keep the pot small OOP and hope to hit/showdown in a smaller pot as opposed to c-betting the flop, bloating the pot, and making it worth it to the LAG to try and steal it.

Don't show your balls unless you have to.

Granted it's 7-handed, but I'm not a huge fan of re-raising from the blinds with AK in full-ring. Yes, you do it on occassion to mix things up, but overall, you're building a big pot OOP with Ace high. And since you've built such a big pot pre-flop, any kind of play at the pot on the flop (be it a bet or a check/raise) is going to be that much more expensive, and you end up in this exact predicament.

As played pre-flop, I'd generally play it the same way you did on the flop. And then I'd kick myself for making the pot so big pre-flop. smile.gif

And to Jordan, yes, in full-ring, stats of 26/13/3.0 would be considered LAG, although the 26 is on the lower end of most LAGs.

The pot is $28 bucks though...is this LAG going to make it less than $20 to our Hero? This is close to committing him...and the Ac or Kc isn't going to make us feel much better.

I understand the thought process in general, and don't often disagree with you, but I think this is a terrible play, given the board. LAG or not, he called a preflop re-raise and raised a lead....he has to be on least a draw here.

Against a LAG: I call preflop and c/f the flop.

This is what I call the 'Monsters Under The Bed Syndrome'. Because he's LAG, and because there's two of a suit on the board, he must have two of the same suit in his hand--no. I feel very good if the Ac or Kc hits the board. 7 handed, it's less likely that he has the flush..that's just facts.

The fact he bet at the pot means nothing..the only thing I can see where we might disagree with my check/call line is that check/raising is better because it defines the LAG's hand much better if not makes him fold.

I strongly believe in showing down aces from time to time, especially short handed against LAGs..but, that's just me.

He ended the session at like 30/12, fwiw.
The Nuts
If you've been making a lot of c-bets, he could easily be playing back at you.

If that's the read I have, then I'll just shove him all-in. A lot of these LAG guys are cowboys until you put them to a decision for their entire stack.

Zach,

you'll have pos on this fart every hand but 1 per rotation.
I would never bet/fold this flop into a LAG in a raised pot with just overs, OOP.

I like the idea to call preflop and bet/raise any A/K on the flop.

Otherwise, I"d let him have it post flop.

just guessing, I don't play NL cash profitably sad.gif

lol, I'm senstive
Because I WANT to play pretty badly.
But alas, too risk adverse to play it for maximum EV, I"m afraid. I probably just need to take a few hits, recover, get used to it, and become immune eventually.

I at least need to play and post some hands, first.
Otherwise, I may be totally embarrassed!

I really think you should try NL cash.

I was the last one I thought would try it, and I love it.

It's far less swingy (so far tongue.gif) than LHE ever was, and it's waaaaaaaay less frustrating.

A guy like you could clean up with a proper roll and developping the no fear attitude that helps (ie not freaking out if you lose a buyin).

*******

Btw, I wanted to push this flop so bad after his raise....
