I'd like to see some hands that you guys played differently than you normally would... You know, that time you called the utg raise with 36 off, the air bluff.. all that good stuff.

Every topic here begins with "I had AK" or something and I just want to see some other types of hands discussed.

The inspiration from this thread comes from an article I just remembered where some poker pro describes Gus Hansen's stories as always starting with something like "I had 74".

Well, most of those hands require read based information...

Playing live at the AC (2/5NL) this last week I had been playing for a while and the table was pretty loose/passive preflop, tight/passive post flop..and I had been playing a lot of pots, and was def. the most aggressive...but for some reason I was getting respect...even though I was showing weird hands. I dunno.

Anyways, one limped, old man raised it to $15, folds to me on button I call with 9 icon_suit_club.gif 4 icon_suit_club.gif

We flop 3 way, flop A icon_suit_diamond.gif 4 icon_suit_diamond.gif 8 icon_suit_diamond.gif

check, old man bets $20, I call $20, limiper folds.

Turn T icon_suit_heart.gif

he checks, I bet $40, he folds QQ, I show a 4...blah blah.

---

I think the reason these hands are posted often are:

1 -- ppl dont play enough pots with them to make a post worthwile

2 -- ppl misplay the hands postflop and so they dont want to post them

3 -- they require a read to play, and it's hard to give that read through a forum.

I had a lot of weird hands in AC that I usually wouldn't post from my live sessions..but playing live in AC was 100% different from the style of play online.

How long did it take the old man to stop shaking his fist while grumblin' "You young punks are gonna go broke playin' like that, now in my day......" ?smile.gif

I'll say 15 minutes.

There are two main reasons you witness this phenomenon on FCP:
1. You have a lot of donks giving advice who advocate only playing premium hands preflop. Who knows if they actually employ this advice themselves, but inevitably when you post a hand that begins "I had 74" you get 3 auto-responses that say "man, fold that crap preflop."
2. A vast majority of the hands posted here are in shortstacked games (<100 bb's.) As you might guess, you've got to tighten up your preflop selection when playing with such little wiggle room. That's why the posts that begin "I'm sitting 5-5NL with about 1500 behind" are the best to read.

this is exactly true, lack of creativity on the forum when it comes to online play (not this is wrong for online play) leads to "fold preflop" over and over. 100 bb max buy ins lead to less creative play already, also, people may either be embarassed about it if it goes poorly, or don't need advice on it if they think they played it right based on their read.

Full Tilt reminds me a lot of how the play is at AC. Except, there are less cold-calls preflop on Full tilt cause it's online. The thing is about playing more hands though, is that a lot of the time you are just raising in position and cbetting flops and taking it down there.

Rarely do you need to, or should fire a 2nd bullet in a cash game against someone who knows you are playing a lot of pots....so it's like, what's the point of posting a hand where I raised with XX and bet the flop. That's just something you do in NL hold em' and not much else can really be said about it.

I think a lot also depends if you are playing 6 max or full ring. 6 max you should be playing more hands, so you raising T9s in position is probably standard, as opposed to a full ring game where that might be viewed as mixing it up in certain cases.

I played an awesome hand with Ad9h earlier today in a 3-6 NL game after a raise and a re-raise where it was bet all the way down and I rivered a fourth diamond to crack both AA and KK.

You were asking us to post hands where we played like a complete clown, right? smile.gif

The problem with posting the "creative" hands is that almost every response would be, "fold preflop...I hate everything about the way you played this hand".

Were you wasted when you typed this or did you just decide to donkey punch your keyboard?

Heres just me being retarded:

4 handed, Villain and I both ahve about $40

.25/.50 NL

Villain raises in CO, I call on button with Jack 8 hearts

Flop: 3 7 7 rainbow

He bets $3, I raise to $9, He 3 bets, I don't know the amount

And I'm just going to end the post there because clearly I made a GREAT decision after that..

I was tilting though
