This guy is such a retard it isn't even funny.
Every single step he takes is going to get ripped apart by the media now, and he's going to lose what little resemblance of a mind he has left in the process.
All I can say is Thank you God.

So far the background information on Jamie Gold looks pretty dismal, but nothing a
good agent and the WSOP ME win can't fix in a few months. If the story that he sold 50% of any cash to a backer is correct, that just makes him a gambler and *only* six million dollars richer. Still good.
I hope that Jamie Gold accepts his invitation to High Stakes Poker on GSN and if he is smart, he can get bankrolled for that too, if only to turn his 50% WSOP backing from a huge loss to a consistant business arrangement, which sounds more correct. Lots of players have been backed, at one time or another, so being backed is not bad, really. The size of the win is what shocks most people but let's look at it in a positive way: The backer must be pretty happy.
Does the IRS tax Jamie on the whole 12 million, then whack the backer for getting 6 million?

Sounds like the fun on this story has just started.
Meanwhile, back to business for Daniel Negreanu.

Says one poker pro, "In the gambling community, your word is gold." And, should the man of the same name as his word welsh on his promise, says the pro, "His name is dirt."

Why doesn't the poker community go out and buy a bunch of ski masks, put together a posse, go to Gold's house in the OC, scare the living bejesus out of with the threat of enemas and crowbars in unatural places and make him disperse the money to poker players everywhere. Matusow can lead the charge.

Character.. does it really count here?
I mean who cares this guy is a liar. Do you know poker player that doesn't?
I really don't care if he said he was a dishwasher, there's nothing wrong with that, and really was a top executive of a fortune 500 company!
He won the dang thing,
and move on to the next time.
Character counts when you are one of my fiends but who cares if this guy is a jerk or not. I would like to sit to his left at a tourney the we'll see!
He already said he doesn't want the lime-light or that he doesn't need the money.
Who doesn't need $6 mil?
And he doesn't want to be a poker ambassador. That's his right. He can go back to washing dishes or whatever.

LOL, first of all this is an internet hollywood-gossip site and it doesn't even name its source. This is how the term "unreliable source" was coined . Why would he lie about his clients on national TV when there are millions of reporters that can easily verify that? Never thought DG would join this bandwagon of envious teenagers, perhaps not over the WSOP yet.

who the hell is DG?
and yeah, nobody in a high profile situation has ever lied about their life when it was possible they could be found out. you're right. from now on, every single person who is on tv is telling the truth and politicians on cspan and cnn speak words of wisdom and clarity.
show me a poker player who isn't envious of a guy who just won the biggest event in poker and i'll show you someone who doesn't care. now break your fingers so we don't have to read crap like this anymore.

exactly, this is why he should make good on his promises. If I just won, and I owed people a piece of the pie, I would throw the cash to them on national television.
Any publicity is said to be good publicity, so there's a chance Gold will come clean. Endorsements are plentiful right now. (Hachem even has beer commercials)

If all goes through with the deal and giving Chan 10% of the winnings plus the taxes, Gold ends up with around $2.8 million of that $12 million prize.
He's a piece of **** and not even a particularly good player (a trained monkey can win with the stack and luck he had).
