I seem to have trouble with river value betting. I get too greedy and overbet in a lot of situations where I would get a call by a worse hand with a smaller bet. I reduce my opponents calling range so much that my bet becomes -EV.
On the river here, I am fairly certain I have the best hand but theres still a lot of hands I'm behind to. After he fails to check/raise the turn and checks the river I think the flush can be discounted a little bit. I think his most likely hand is a big ace.
On the river he has about $40 left. What is the right amount to bet? Or do we check behind? If we do bet, what do we do if he check/raises?
