Palm Treo 700w without any promotions is $619 bucks. I hate you and your high-priced cell phones.

Screw you Sprint

FYP. At least with Verizon you can get service without dropping 80 million calls.

I like verizon but that much for a phone is lethal.

I really wanted that phone, but alas, it's not offered through cingular (at least not yet). I went with the Cingular 8125 instead...but it's still pretty sweet. I paid 500 cuz i didn't need a new plan. Blah. Too much money.

Verizon has the best coverage I know of. Cingular sucks.

I've had very few problems with Cingular, but I know some people have. Probably depends on the area that you live.

God you're stupid. When the carriers sell you the phone at a discounted price, they actually take a hit, which is why they lock you up to a contract...they have to get their money back. The $619 is, essentially, the amount they pay for the phone. They're breaking even on the equipment costs, and EVERY other carrier would be selling it for the same price.

But you're right, it's Verizon Wireless' fault the phone is so expensive. They should make every phone cheap, so they can't afford the upkeep on that wonderful network you enjoy using some much.

I guess it all depends on where you live. Verizon is the nuts in the tristate area.

Hmm...that's interesting. My dad was in the Bahamas not too long ago and couldn't get any service there. I wonder how Cingular works down there.

They're on completely different types of networks. Cingular is on a GSM network, which is a globally-accepted standard, whereas Verizon is on a CDMA network, which is basically only used in the states. So you can take your Cingular phone to different parts of the world, and it will still work (though international roaming charges are SUPER expensive).
