Full Version: Idiotic Structure

Hey guys...

Ive been following the forum and the video blog since the start of WSOP 2006 and i finally decided to come inhere and be part of the pack. My first thread here is gonna be about the idiotic structure which ill be facing for the Danish championships.. For those of you who dont know, Denmark is a small country of 5.300.000 people in scandinavia just north of Germany.

The turnament structure is like this... max 110 people start in a "satelite" to the final days where u play down to 12 people who go on to the main turnament. This is because the casino is too small to be host to more than 200 people, and people around the country and participate in these "satelites" at their local casino. This part is pretty good, cus it allows people around the country to play.. the entry is 500$ + 50$ fee, which is also acceptable, altho double price would have been preferred to avoid all the donks...

Now here is what makes my face go red with rage... we all start with 10.000 chips in the satelite, play down to 12 people and thats the end of it... in the end turnament we get 10.000 to start again and we play down to a winner as usual. However.. if by the end of day two, there is not found a winner, the winner is decided by chipcount.

Also... take a look at the blind structure:

Level 1: 25/50 (30min)
Level 2: 50/100 (30min)
Level 3: 100/200 (30min)
Level 4: 150/300 (30min)
Level 5: 200/400 (30min)
Level 6: 300/600 50ante (30min)
Level 7: 400/800 100ante (30min)
Level 8: 500/1000 100ante (30min)

It goes on like this for 16 levels ending with 30.000/60.000 and 6000 ante.

My problem is not so much the blinds themselves, altho it will clearly be an issue, no the its the time the levels go on for. Am i totally wrong in thinking that 30minutes is just too little? I mean even with a dealer, your looking at 9-13 hands per blind level and with 10 people per table, you cant play that many hands. Unless u decide they're all donks and outplay them every hand like DN did at WSOP.

This is the PDF document with the whole structure, its in danish, but u should be able to see whats what. Please get me some feedback on this, and lemme know if im totally out of line.

I don't know a whole lot about tournament structures, but that is ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure it was the same rules last year as well, and if I'm not mistaken the winner was actually decided by chip count. Might very well be the worst rule I've heard about.
