Hey... for anyone in the Chicago area... I just found out about this recently.. I haven't played yet, but I plan on it... it seems like a good deal... and check out the WSOP Satellite setup... seems like one of the easier paths that i've seen. Has anyone played? Or what do you think of it? I will go play as soon as I have the cash.

Dixon is 90 west of Chicago on 88 (the tollway)
Rockford is about 45 minutes for me.

Oh ok, so about halfway between me and rockford or so... not bad. I like the fact they have the games in Arlington Heights as well... so I can go to the close game there, or take a trip up on a saturday to play in rockford... just gotta save some money. I like the WSOP system a lot... and it should be starting next month.

Hey Kurt,
Do you know if they play every day in Arlington, and until what time?
That's a trip I could take once or twice a week after work...
What about the APL? Do you know of any games tonight here in Chicago?
Thanks,
FYB

If you go to the website, it has the listings of when the games are in arlington heights.. there was one yesterday i think, but the next one isn't for a couple weeks... the 29th maybe? go check it out. As for the APL... all the chicago games are postponed right now because they're having meetings with the liquor commission to prove that it's not illegal and nobody is getting prizes or money. But that should hopefully be finished up by next week sometime and hopefully they'll start back up again (I sure hope soon, cause that's my job and only source of income, lol).

I have played those games, the tournaments are not good at all. I have played at a thirteen handed table for one tourney, blinds strated at 25 50, we each had 400 in chips, blinds double every ten minutes. We all bought in for seventy five, payout was $400, $200, $75, that's $675 of the $975 they took in for a total crapshoot(31% rake). Now this is the worst one, but since they don't have a standard for how they set up the single tables (the multi table stuff is a BAD structure too, no chips, huge blinds 10 minute levels) I can't say the other games are much better. they do offer ring games but the rake is HUGE, although they have an interesting 'spread limit' game, a limit structure with a min and max raise at each round.
Bottom line, the people who put it on are really nice, the games are a crapshoot, go once, but don't be excited.
You guys want to get a better game going let me know.

Thanks for the info, I was pretty curious about the rake... but at least it looks like the WSOP satellites are a good system, from what I read about them. With so few chips though, that is a real crapshoot, but I guess we'll see. Maybe the side games are beatable, I don't need to get rich, but if I can go and leave with more than I had, that's fine with me. What area are you from though, speaking of getting games together?

Well, I got to play last night at this thing up in Rockford, since I was in Madison for something anyway. Stopped on the way home and played in the 1-3 game with my gf. I thought it was pretty fun. Better than going and having to play 3/6 at the casino... and the play was terrible. Although I think it was too terrible. There was one woman playing who was acting like it was a craps game... half the time she'd let you know what she had anyway... she'd look at her hand and be like... aw, i hate Aces, I always loose with an Ace. What the hell is that? And she'd look at the board, and yell out what she needs, lol. Even bet without looking cause she was preoccupied with something. It was a little crazy... but if I had more money to invest I could have done well, but I just sat down with $30, and lost it after about 2 hours... my gf ended with $25 of her original $30, so it wasn't bad for the first time at the event. I'll definitely go back and try again though.. didn't get in the tournaments though.. seem like a rip.. $30 is the lowest and only pays out the winner... $60 pays out 2 spots... I'm not even gonna waste it trying. Thought I'd give an update though.

You guys haven't had a chance to play down in Peoria at the Paradice have you? Its too bad they don't take it out on the river anymore, but I've been wondering how the casino itself is.
