My buddy was playin in a 9 handed 1/2 limit HE on stars.

He holds 89s in UTG+1, and limps (bad decision but not the focus)

3 others limpers in the pot, one raised he calls at that point.

4 to the flop, of TJ3, one of his suit.

Original raiser bets this flop, he was a tight player playing almost only premium (dont have the exact stats).

Turn is the Q, my buddy, first to act, bets it out. next man calls, original raiser folds, the 4th man in the pot folds, my buddy folds, and the other guy ends up calling down.

Does he need to fold here, or is there another move.

what happened here? your buddy bet out and after he sees everyone call and a couple folds he decides to fold for no reason? sounds like a good play. lol.
seriously though what happened?

lol no, he bet out the turn Q, where he hit the straight, and then the next guy called his raise, and the player who raised PF raised his turn bet, and the 4th guy folded, and my buddy who now held the lower 5 card straight folded.

That's terrible.

Call down, at least.

yeah i would at least call it down because its not like NL where you can lose your whole stack in one hand. anyway if the other guy was a solid player like you said he probably wont bet the flop wqith AK (well he could) but not many of the rocks do this. they normally only bet when they have a hand. so he might've had JJ and flopped 3 of a kind or something like that

a solid player would bet that flop with AK every time, and should.
roadhawg
they should, but most wont. at least from my experience most of the solid players dont bet unless they have something. i agree that they should, i bet the flop almost every time i raise preflop, but a lot of these people arent good players.

I think you might be confusing solid players with rocks.

Against a lot of players I 3 bet that. If capped, c/c river.
roadhawg
i think you are right. i am thinking of rocks.
strate
i agree with at minimum a calldown or a 3 bet, no way to be 100% he is holding the other monster, and its hard to put a rock on K9, raising PF would seem rediculous.
