It was a good episode. I love Todd Brunson telling them to shut up when discussing yoga. Hilarious.

I think Todd is just mad because his physical capabilities would never allow him to come close to doing yoga =(

Anyone know what about how friendly Mike and Sheiky are in real life. Last years WSOp made it seem like they really hated eachother. In this episode Gabe throws out that Sheiky may have backed Mike (which I guess is possible.) Was last year's WSOP just a show?

In this months issue of POKERPRO Magazine ... it states that Sean and Mike were not allowed to play in the game at the same time because Sean had a piece of Mike's action!!! I find this completely WILD too ... since I saw the two feuding personally at the WSOP last year and it was definitely REAL!

They must have made up?

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

Isn't the Krablar K-3 offsuit, cuz Laak had K-3 of diamonds and made the flush.

Someone please tell me if I am right or not about the Krablar, cuz I have only

heard about it a few times.

When I was in vegas I saw them playing chinese poker together and they looked pretty chummy. If I were them I would put that show on ESPN too, I mean if it was'nt for that all he would be known for would be killing elderly women icon_confused.gif

this has been explained a ton of times

they never hated each other, it was just one of those things that happens when you get down near the end of a big tournament and Mike thought sean was out of line.

they are friends

how do you have that username and not have a dr. evil avatar?
psujohn
Remember how when you were 7 you and your best friend would get into these knock-down drag-out brawls over something which seemed terribly important at the time and then completely forget about it the next day and start all over again.

were people talking about it right after the WSOP? I never saw anything and just always assumed they really hated eachother. I mean the way Todd talked about sheiky last episode of HSP, I think he really does hate the man

I have no idea about Todd and Sheiky's relationship. I know that Mike has been asked about it numerious times, and his response every time has been that he and Sean are friends, and that he just thought sean was getting out of line so he had to go right back at him and bust him.

Played just like a poker player. If you don't know, just make shit up and call it a bluff.

K3 = king crab = krablar
suited or unsuited doesn't matter. No such thing as a king krablar but thanks for playing.

Yea...he counts his profit every time he's in a hand! I guess I would too though if it was one of the biggest if not the biggest game I've ever played.
jooka
Seeing MM on the other end of the spectrum is awesome, totally wont talk, pissed off, wreckless and just bleeding money.
jmkiser
I appreciate Phil Laak. Someone needs to show him the Krablar dance, though. I'm sure he would love to incorporate it into his list of craziness. I'm still rubbing my sides after laughing through the entire episode of the WPT Celebrity Event in the second season. Because of that one tournament, I now check people's pulses who dare go all-in over the top of my raises biggrin.gif

On the topic of the Krablar, though... When I used to get fed up with my obvious tight style, I started to use position and bully a 72o to pick up a pot just so I could show it and get some calls. The random times when you hit 72o, it gets even better. Maybe I should use a different crappy hand that is just a little bit better and not so obvious, though... If the Krablar wasn't so popular, I'ld probably use it... maybe a j5 so I can start whistling "beat it"? Or 10 4 so I could rip up some trucker language? ... no, both bad... grr.... :: mind wanders ::

Oh yes, back to the OP, props to Phil Laak.

In his most recent article in Bluff, he talks about how it's like 3 times higher than he's ever played before...and how it represents his biggest cash game winning session ever. I really wanted to dislike the magazine out of loyalty to CardPlayer, but some of the articles are actually pretty decent. Laak has a great rambling, intelligent writing style that reflects the way he talks.

Couple of things:

a. Is it me or is there a rediculous amount of commercials in HSP? I mean one time there was an 8 min comm. break followed by 6 mins of poker followed by another 8 minute comm break! I never noticed cuz I usually watch it TiVo, but WTF!!! The whole episode is like 12 hands.

b. I love that Todd Brunson is sitting there with an entire dead cow on his back for the whole season, esp. when he had the massage girl over...too funny watching her knead the tannery on his back! LLOOL

c. Matusow is a donkey at life. But the guy must book some big winners. He gets staked for every event.

d. My favorite play was DN's 22k(?) bet on the turn v. Minh. Close second was Antonio's production with QQ.
psujohn
Speaking of Antonio's acting job with the QQ - Mr Kotter seemed to think it was inappropriate. I thought it was a fairly standard poker tactic. Though I suspect the high stakes crowd does less acting with each other since they're less likely to believe it.
HurricaneKyle
Poor Donkusow. It was fairly obvious that he was going to go busto on that hand, and Laak did a great job of letting Mike do all the work.

The one thing that would have made Mike's exit even more hilarious is if someone handed him a "Get out of Jail free card" from Monopoly. That would have been classic.

Thanks Chang.

I thought it was interesting/humorous when Brunson snapped at Harmon when she wanted to see the flop of an already dead hand. Brunson was upset because "some of us are stuck" and it was wasting valuable getting unstuck time.

On another note, i'll start the bidding at $10 for a lock of Brunson's mop.

Yea...I didn't see how it was inappropriate either. He wasn't slowrolling, so all he was doing was trying to disguise his hand

A lot of people like Gabe Kaplan's commentary and I will say that his assumptions on players' thought processes are usually pretty good but he interjects too much of his own playing style in terms of what he thinks players should and shouldn't do.
Overall he's better than average but sometimes he's way off.

He also never rebought in the rebuy tourney.

I thought Laak was playing good tight poker and letting his image intice other people. He's made some tough lay downs but last I checked was up 200K plus, not bad for a nights work with scared money. However, they have figured his game out so he'll probably switch up.

Todd pummpling a yoga hippie makes me smile. icon_cool.gif

my thoughts,
it was great when matusow busted, i just dont like him
laak was playing very tight
Daniel played great
and i dont really remember anything else lol
Whatever
Laak has played very tight - sometimes extremely so - everytime he's been featured.

Also, watching Antonio and Matasow go busto this season was very entertaining.

My two favorite moments of the show:

1. Matusow busting.
2. Doyle's comment in the preview. (After he said it, I thought, "wow, did Doyle actually say that?" That's not a comment I would imagine coming out of Doyle's mouth...)

Doyle as he's buttering some food or something says "If he had lost that pot it would have been 'get lost bi-tch'"

Yeah that cracked me up too...he has that Grandfather of Poker image, so hearing him make an offcolor comment has an even stronger effect.

How many episodes are left this season?
SicS15
Matusow is a glamorized donk...he has no bankroll management skills whatsoever (who doesn't have a piece of him), tilts easily and plays outside his own limits...He knew he was tired yet continued to play...thats why they gave him $4K to stay, a meager investment to get the whole enchilada...unfortuanately it went to scared money...I like phil laak, but that style of play only works when the cards role your way, but Im sure my butt cheeks would tighten too at those stakes against the best cash game palyers around..smile.gif He did however play the krablar to perfection against donkasow...Daniel had great command of the table and has a great feel for the players, I can't believe minh ly tossed the tens to the overcard on the last hand knowing he was stuck 40-60K when Daniel was in dam near every pot...I loved seeing Daniel rub it in his face having a 5 high..Id also like to see Mr. Yum Yum (hellmuth) come back and lose another 250K but he knows hes outmatched, better stick to the tourneys chump biscuit!!!! Anywho, back to donking of my own stack... bubble_lol.gif
