I guess maybe you could've bet much more on the turn making it look like a steal, but the only way you really cold've gotten more wass if he his Jack or hit a nine for the straight
Vade
Not really, you were lucky to get a call on the river, by a guy who knew he was beat.

If you had doubled or more your turn bet, I bet he would have folded.
There's 2 10s and a Q on board, and any of those beats him. Not to mention AA or KK.

I might have bet $20-25 on the turn since it is rather suspicious to bet the same amount two rounds in a row. However, you definitely aren't getting much more out on the river considering his hand. I really liked your river bet if he was a loosish player; it was just small enough to get called (though he still shouldn't have anyway). But other than that $5-10 you might have missed out on on the turn, you probably aren't getting any more money out of this guy. I think you played it pretty well.
Rocketwadster
I think you did great getting how much you did considering all the hands that had that guy beat.
The only thing that might have worked better in hindsight was to check on the turn. When the river came, after you checked on the turn he may have taken a shot at the pot with a bet, which you would raise. If he checked, you could either go big (looking like a steal), or go very small, hoping for a re-raise from him.
XXEddie
Not really, the guys comments made it obvious he had shit so he probably wouldnt of called a bigger bet

Checking the turn is bad, I think he's a calling station who wouldn't bet the river since he checked.

not to pretend like i know what i am talking about, but there's no point in checking an unbeatable hand that you make on the turn. on the flop maybe, but not on the turn. you bet just over the perfect amount, and by his reaction i'd say he had almost given up on the turn, decided to just call, and certainly wouldn't be raising. btw, $30 is borderline. i know he called, but it really is way too big, imo.

Agreed, there isn't any way that the guy is going to bet his jacks because he can't beat anything if he's called. Checking on the turn would only have been a good play "in hindsight" (to use Rocketwadster's term) if the player didn't have any type of hand at all and the check on the turn might then induce a bluff attempt. But, with the hand that he had, he's only going to call bets and would almost certainly not bet when checked to. He wanted to show the jacks down and hope it was best, not create a huge pot with raises and potential re-raises when he had such a mediocre hand. I stand by my previous statement that a slightly larger turn bet is probably the only way to get any more $ out of the player. Obviously if the turn bet was slightly larger, the river bet could be slightly larger too because the pot would have been bigger. But you never know, his hand was so bad that he might have laid it down for any more than the actual bets he had to call.
wrto4556
I'm a limit player.

Having said that, my line would be to bet big on the flop and turn, then lead out small on the river hoping for a raise. (selling my hand).
wisky_VI
Yeah, I thought about a check hoping he'd catch up but with his intial re-raise I obviously went with leading back in. I was just greedy and wishing I could have got all his checks !

Milking bigger hands and on the opposite side laying down big hands are my two(glaring IMHO) weaknesses and I need to work on them.

Thanks for the input.
digitalmonkey
I think you played it properly. The guy was unable to lay the jacks down because you did not bet "too" big. He was obviously beat; I think he even knew it. If you had tried to "milk" more it would only have made it easier to fold.
KDawgCometh
okay, I don't want to sound like an ass, but this hand is of very little ling run consequence. You won't hit quads all that often for you too misplay them enough for it to be a serious leak. Yes it is important to play hands like this well, but it is even more important on how you play a hand where you have TPGK or seoncd pair top kicker or getting max value on a straight draw or flush. You lose more in the long run by playing the hands I just mentioned improperly than you would with quads. Start posting those hands, its nice to gaze at someone's quads but really it is such a minor part of the game that you really should worry about other areas that effect you on a daily basis
wisky_VI
Will do soon Kdawg, sorta been mostly a lurker and now will post the goods especially some hands I censored up for imput.
wisky_VI
ok, here's a few more let me have it ! The A4 hand is pure stupidity i know.
