NL 6-handed.

My stack about 120bbs. Villain about 150bbs. Very early in my session, no read.

Hero on the button with 8d9d. Villain limps UTG. 4/5 fold, Hero limps on the button, blinds complete and check.

Flop 4d 9c 5d.

Blinds check. Villain bets 4 bb's. Hero raises to 10bb's. Villain calls.

Turn Qd. Villain bets 8 bb's. Hero raises to 20bb's?

Raising him right there puts him off of your flush and onto thining you had TP or MP on the flop and making him think his Q is good if he has one, on the other end if he limped with Axd then you still have to make the same play to figure out where you're at. You just have to have enough of a read on the guy to figoure out wheather or not you call his all in if he goes over the top of you again. With no read if he went over the top of me again I would probably fold. Either way I think the right way to play it is to raise to figure out where your hand stands, if he just calls you value bet it on the river if he raises depending how much it is depends on the situation, when he minraises you back I would probably just call and pay him off but if he pushes I would think on it for awhile and probably fold.

20-24bb is good

the bigger question is what you do if he comes over top of you

Easy fold. Though I probably call out of stupidy. Flush over flush happens a lot more in nl than limit for some reason.

What??? Rigged maybe?

I like the way it's played.

Me too. Actually, I never fold the turn to a push either because there is too good a chance he is pushing the naked ace.

Ok, my OP was my play, I raised the turn.

I"m very wishy-washy over whether that was the best play.

I made the play for value and to push away a bluff at an overcard to the original top card on the flop. It was a classic "semi-bluff."

Thing is, I didn't do anything with it. It wasn't big enough to push him off the hand; really only priced him in. He bet on the flop, so unless he was just searching for an answer with his 88, he had me at least tied on the flop. The Q comes, he bets...and if it wasn't a straight up bluff, I didn't do anything but make the pot bigger for him if I whiffed my draws on the river. I go to the river feeling like complete crap if he does call my turn raise.

Villain calls. River is 4c.

Villain bets 12bb's.
