I imagine Wang or McGee, or someone else, has something to say about Nichols, but until one of them logs on, I'll tide myself over with some Woody. Man, he rocks. Discuss!

Yes. Yes it does. Did you see Match Point? No one has seen it, but it's really, really good.

I saw it a few weeks ago. I agree. Totally unexpected and very good.

It doesn't feel like a Woody Allen movie. If I didn't know going in, I wouldn't be able to tell you it was one of his films.

I know you meant wouldn't.

I don't think i've even seen many of his movies, but I liked that one.

Definitely didn't see the movie going in that direction, lol.

Thats right...I need to rent that bad boy.

I'm the biggest Woody Allen fan around, he is so hilarious. Manhattan is my favorite movie. And here's some funny shit:

Anton: If you so much as come near the Countess, I'll see that you never see the light of day again.
Boris: If a man said that to me, I'd break his neck.
Anton: *I* am a man.
Boris: Well, I mean a much shorter man.

Sonja: He kissed me.
Boris: Any place I should know about?
Sonja: He warmed the cockles of my heart.
Boris: That's just great. Nothing like hot cockles.

Isaac Davis: It's an interesting group of people, your friends are.
Mary Wilke: I know.
Isaac Davis: Like the cast of a Fellini movie.

Isaac Davis: It's brown water! I'm paying seven-hundred dollars a month, I got rats with bongos and a, and a frog and I got brown water here.

Clifford Stern: While we're waiting for a cab I'll give you your lesson for today. Don't listen to what your teachers tell ya, you know. Don't pay attention. Just, just see what they look like and that's how you'll know what life is really gonna be like.

Cliff Stern: Last time I was inside a woman was when I visited the Statue of Liberty.

Emmet Ray: D'you like that? I knew you would. They say I'm a wonderful lover.

Emmet Ray: First time I had sex, 7 years old.

The Devil: You ever fuck a blind girl?
Harry Block: No. That I never did.
The Devil: Oh, they're so grateful.

[Hands super a one-dollar tip]
Larry Lipton: What are you making a face for? He's the father of our country.

"I can't listen to that much Wagner. I start getting the urge to conquer Poland."

"If it turns out that there is a God, I don't think that he's evil. But the worst that you can say about him is that basically he's an underachiever."

"It is impossible to travel faster than the speed of light, and certainly not desirable, as one's hat keeps blowing off."

There are soooo many!!...He's a comic genius. laugh.gif

I celebrate his entire catalog.

Dutch, if you liked Match Point, I recommend Crimes and Misdemeanors which is similar, but better, imo.

his humour makes me laugh sometimes, but lets not lose site of the fact that he adopted a girl to raise her as his daughter, THEN STARTED FCKING HER, AND MARRIED HER.

He's a pedophile.

And his movies annoy the hell out of me, seriously, they're bad.

Match Point was the biggest piece of drivel I've seen this year, boring as hell from start to finish.

Mia Farrow and Andre Previn adopted the girl on a trip to Korea...not Woody Allen. Common mistake. Allen and Farrow then had a relationship but never married. And the girl, Soon-Yi Previn, was 21 when she and Allen started their relationship. They then got married like 5 years later. Let's not get carried away with the pedophile statements....

ok mr green jeans, how old was the young victim when woody started dating Mia Farrow, early teens or earlier? he was a father figure to that girl.

would you like to rationalize Roman Polanski now as well, or are you ok with giving drugs and booze to a 13 year old and drilling her in the keister?

in other words, I respect you correcting my mistakes, but if you still feel his actions were acceptable, wanna baby sit my kids?

I'm not in a position to fully judge whether his actions were acceptable or not....and I don't think you are either. I just think it's wrong to call someone a pedophile when there has been no evidence of the sort. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt especially since they've been married for the past 15 years. If it comes out that there was any type of abuse whatsoever, I'll obviously condemn it immediately. Until then, I won't call him a pedophile.

Who cares that he married his daughter??? Does this make his movies any less hilarious?

And no, she was never actually his daughter.

Oh, the old art vs the artist argument, what a tired old saw. The actions of the artists doesn't make the art any less. Townsend got busted for kiddie porn, I still like "Tommy", Micheal Jackson is a freak, I still like "Off the Wall", roman polanski is a pervert, rosemary's baby is still amazing, jerry lee lewis married his 13 year old cousin, I still shake when shake rattle roll comes on. When I watch a movie or listen to a song, or view a piece of art, I'm not doing it because I'm a fan boy of the artist/director/creator... they are not my role model, I am not a disicple of their church. A person's sickness in their personal life has nothing to do with the quality of their art IMO. . I know some of you Tool fans will find this art/ artist seperation bizarre, since you all seem to sacrifice goats at the alter of maynard.

As for woody allen, he's a genius, i've seen far too few of his movies than I should. I loved loved loved bananas/anne hall/ armegeddon /manhattan/ everything you wanted to know about sex ( but were afraid to ask). I can take or leave some of his newer movies, I haven't really liked them THAT much, not like his earlier masterpieces. Sounds like I'll have to check out his new one.

icon_clap.gif Well said.

I didn't like the new one "Match Point" but I've loved almost everything else he's done. His more recent ones have also been hit or miss for me.

"I tended to place my wife under a pedestal."

Unless you're implying that you know him personally or have some information from a reliable source about his relationship with Soon-Yi Previn, I will assume you made like an awesome subtle joke or something. I prefer not to label him anything when it comes to his personal life because I don't truly know anything about it.
