Hey thought I'd share this hand with you.

Its a low stakes live cash game. ($0.25/$0.50)

Dealt QQ in the BB($60). Table folds to Button($80) who raises to $4. SB calls, I call. Both the Button and the SB are good tight players.

Pot size, $12. Flop comes 10 8 5 rainbow. SB checks, I bet $10. The Button raises me to $30. SB folds. I've seen this player muck AK,AQ to pot sized flop bets in similar situations, I'm thinking I may only be ahead of JJ or a strong 99 play.

Whats your play?

I'm assuming if you're not reraising preflop, that this type of player is betting a fair amount in LP w/ random hands. Suprsied you took k10 and A10 out. I'm pushing this and living w/ what happens.

re-raise preflop.

gather enough info, raise to about 14.00 if you get 1 or 2 callers lead out for pot, and push anything else

I think not re-raising preflop may have been a slight error. I was trying to take off a safe flop, bet out and win a smallish pot. I put him on AK or a high pair to start with due to his protective 8BB bet. If I re-raise preflop, he calls and I'm in a spot if the board comes A/K high. On the other hand if it comes 10 high I'm looking good.

I dont think he was the type of player to raise 8BB's with A10, K10 trying to steal 75c in blinds. Which is why the hands he could realistically re-raise with were KK,JJ,1010,99,88 (he's not raising that much with aces). From these hands the 99 is a suspect play in my opinion and I can only beat JJ. So maybe a fold isnt looking so bad.

The fact that he folded AK a few times before and he's pretty much an ABC type player made me think I was behind too.

See you kinda trapped urself in this hand. You didn't reraise pf and then post flop you led out with a strong bet and got raised. We have absolutely no clue where we are here. I'll take out KT but ATs is in Villians range as is most pocket pairs.

I'd have to say its 70/30 in favor of a fold to the flop reraise. If he just calls here we gotta be loving our hand.

didn't notice that part. I just assumed he made a simple raise. If this sort of bet is out of line for him I really think you need to reraise preflop and figure out what the hell is going on. I think not reraising preflop is a huge mistake if his raise is more than 2x's his normal opening raise.

its a live cash game, its not uncommon for preflop bets to be more than what would normally be seen online.

A,10 fro mhis position is definitely do-able. you shouldnt put him on a certain PP., cuz right now, only ones we beat are jacks, or 9's.
your re-raise preflop would help determine if he has queens or better or if its a smaller PP or high card
