YES! I made the radio in San Diego! I can die peacefully now.

Not exactly the type of press AOL needs. Pretty every computer person hates AOL anyway, and now, maybe, the public will realize that they suck.

lol i had to deal with aol a bunch of times and they are always like that
i made like 3 aol accounts doing thos free ipod sites and canceled them all and now they have my name on a block list that i cant sign up for aol anymore (like thats so terrible) but yeah all they want to do is keep you

will be going to cable modem and another service eventually.
I was sucked in by the secuirty features.

But I also have the whole McAfee package, so do I need any extra layers?

As long as you have a decent firewall you're OK.

I love how that article mentioned that the rep was no longer with the company.

I had this exact conversation a few years ago when I tired to cancel AOL.

Luckily my girlfirend at the time was a customer service rep, so I just handed her the phone and she got the guy's manager on the line and ripped him a new one.

Bu the point is, that is SOP for AOL.

So this guy got fired because he was following orders.

They're running a great operation over there...

i hear you can get the world wide web with aol now

Same thing happened to my family. They had to cancel their credit card just to get rid of them.

I have dial up and can multi-table just fine.

logging on to the internet and firing up the Pokerroom server takes longer than than DSL or cable connection would.

but once I'm up and running it's fast enough.

I have a new laptop, though. I'm sure that helps...

a radio show this morning was taking a lot of calls about how hard it is to cancel accounts at AOL. two people had trouble canceling service for dead relatives.

i had a 6 month free trial with AOL that came with my new computer. I cancelled it last week, no problems what so ever. Just one quick plug to lower my price to like $4.99 or something with my highspeed connection. I said no thanks and he cancelled it. 3 - 5 minutes tops.

I still got 2 free months left out of my 6 months, but I cancelled it 2 months early just to be safe cause I have heard these horror stories. Hopefully all will be well, so far so good.

I despise AOL. I don't even use their CD's for coasters anymore.

now thats just being slanderous. i've found the CDs make pretty excellent coasters. we only have 4 in our house though, and they wouldn't send us more.

I had always wondered why when I was working with Verizon, almost every new install was wanting to use AOL for broadband...

...and now I know.
