Originally I thought calling was the best option so as to induce a call or bet on the river. But during the hand I felt he was betting aces only making my two pair the best hand and certainly the best draw. So a rasie would have been in order to protect the hand. I'm wondering what people think is the better long term play on 6th. Any other insight is appreciated.
The Nuts
Your hand was a marginal hand to play. Your draws to a straight and flush are very low. Along with that, three of your draws to the higher straight (two sevens and an eight) are gone before fourth street as are two to the lower straight (two deuces). Even if you hit your straight, you may easily be drawing dead to a lot of higher straights. Five dead outs to your backdoor straight flush draw before fourth street weakens your hand dramatically.

You have to assume that midway through your hand, Matt_R has aces up and you're going to have outdraw him to win.

You got very lucky on seventh street and did that. You probably shouldn't have played that hand in the first place.

yeah, dump on 3rd. you got yourself into a really sticky situation that you got really lucky on.

Although your a starting hand is a beauty, it actually isnt that great when you look at the board cards that are showing. Seeing fourth isn't THAT bad, but I wouldn't fault anyone for folding third street.

I would have raised 6th street, against ANY opponent.

pretty much you have to assume that your hand is dead against him and you must get lucky and outdraw him
