Former Duke basketball star J.J. Redick was arrested early Tuesday morning for driving while impaired, according to a report on a Durham television station's website.

The WTVD website cited the police report, which said the arrest occurred at 1:03 a.m. and indicated Redick made an illegal U-turn in an attempt to avoid a license checkpoint.
Redick bonded out of the Durham County Jail around 4 a.m. on a $1,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court in Durham on July 17.

Redick is coming off a senior season that saw him win or share almost all of the major Player of the Year awards. He is expected to be a first-round draft pick in the June 28 NBA draft.

This is just a sad story. He appeared to be one of the most wholesome guys out there. What's next? LeBron kills a whole mess of kids?

Innocent until proven guilty...but, why do people who have the world in the palm of their hands do stupid stuff?

He'll plead no contest and get off with community service (which means show up at a few basketball camps and sign a few autographs). If any of us did this, we'd get thrown under the jail.

Justice definitely isn't blind.

No, we wouldn't. Reddick likely has no record and he like any other individual in this country is highly, highly unlikely to serve anytime for his first DWI.

Now why someone like Reddick feels the need to drive is beyond me, considering the fact that he could very easily pay for a cab or have a groupie drive him home while jerking him off.

Nice.

It amazes me the number of athletes in both basketball and football who screw up in the handful of months before the draft and end up potentially costing themselves thousands (millions?) of dollars.
