3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss. Your post must be before the games you're betting on. This is pretty close to the first game but I'll try to do this every night, and announce that day's winner(s).

Togo +1 vs. South Korea 9AM

Switzerland +1 vs. France 12AM

Croatia +2 vs. Brazil 3PM
randy
koria

k. Thanks.
danuk
france and brazil to be winning at half time and full time.
gkunit20
For the future, can we start the options the night before? I think it would be easier as most people don't wake up until after the first game has started. That way more people will be able to place their bets.

I can see clearly now. Sorry.

Yeah, it's late. I have Korea, Brazil to win, and a France/Suisse draw in my pool for today's game. I bet the draw due to injuries to the french squad, and I was regretting it going into the matchup. Looks like it may pay off after all. FTR, if I were a sports betting man, I'd take the over at 2.5 on Brazil too. smile.gif
The Czar
Eh, France already cost me money. They play like our National USA Basketball team. Lots of stars, no motion, no team play, very little results. mad.gif

Alright, no points for anyone this round...Switz tied France and Brazil, scoring one goal, did not clear the spread.

Ok, tomorrow's round and handicaps...no one has a W yet...

Ukraine EVEN Spain 9AM -You get 3 points for picking correct result (including a draw), 0 if you do not.

Saudi Arabia +1 vs. Tunisia 12PM

Poland +2 vs. Germany 3PM

Remember to use the handicaps when you're picking the teams. If you just comment on a previous bet, you've not done enough to participate.

gkunit20
Spain to beat Ukraine, unless they can't shut down Schevy, but this is their year and I think they can beat Ukraine

Saudi Arabia, although I know nothing about either of these teams, I think they are better and will win by, well, at least one.

I think Germany will win, but will not beat the spread. Therefore, I pick Poland.

Final picks:

Spain, Saudi Arabia, Poland

Spain (even), Saudis (+1), Poland (+2)

I think Poland has a chance to at least draw.

Spain (The Ukraine is weak. It's feeble. I think it's time to put the hurt on the Ukraine.)

Ok, cutting it off here..

Mr Danny: Spain, Draw, Draw

GK took Spain, and Saudi Arabia & Poland with the points

Czar: Ditto.

Runthemover: Ditto.

Rog: Ukraine, Saudi plus points, Germany minus 2

Good luck.
gkunit20
Hooray!! 3 full points for almost everyone. (haha Rog, everyone point and laugh [j/k, just messing])
DonkSlayer
Wow, that was the game of the WC so far.

Danny has 3 points for guessing Spain correct, missing TUN vs. KSA.

Rog has 3 points for taking KSA +1, missing UKR v. ESP

GK, Run and Czar are tied at 6 points, getting every right per the spread so far.

Might wanna check again. The Saudi's tied, meaning they didn't beat the +1 spread.

I meant the Saudis got a goal, so it was OK. Should I have said Tunisia -1?

Okay, I'm confused. If the final score is Germany 2, Poland 1, Does that mean Poland beat the spread, or no?

Yes, Poland would have therefore beat the spread. If you picked "draw", then Germany has to win by two goals to get your 1 point. I'm trying to discourage people from picking that option.

Okay, just making sure I picked the right team. I'm projecting a 2-1 score in Germany favor.

You'll still win if it ends as it is now.
CodyHartman
WOW what a goal in stoppage time by Germany. Game over
gkunit20
Holy ****, what a game. Three fantastic games today. And full points for gk!!!

Goodbye Poland.

BOO. i picked the game right, i should get 3 points! no one would ever pick a draw if getting it right only gets 1 point.

don't know why its being discouraged, since its tough to do. seems like you should be able to pick team A, team B or "draw" (tying the spread). you get 3 points if you're right, 0 if you're wrong.
OR
people have to pick team A or team B. if it is a draw, everyone gets 1 point (though that seems pointless).

meh, either way, i am giving myself the full 3 points for my correct guess. because i'm the man.

i think you are wrong. it was 2-0 so England met the spread (according to our rules i think?). like before it was croatia +2 vs brazil. and brazil won by 1. but maybe i'm wrong.

totally forgot to look at this thread last night. oh well. i would have been 3 for 3 if my assumption on the scoring is correct.
gkunit20
Weird. Cause If it's England -2, wouldn't that mean England would have to win by more than 2? Wouldn't that also be the same as T&T +2? Oh well. Either way, I'm 2-3 on the day (I think).
runthemover
i guess this idea got squashed quick. oh well.

I'll resurrect this when we get to the knockout stages. I'm too busy to maintain properly. It'll be more fun then anyway.

Phew. I was worried that I missed the betting today. I think we need to do a bracket pool once we reach the knockout stages.
runthemover
you gonna do something now we're at the round 16 donkslayer? here's hoping.
DonkSlayer
Alright, here goes. I'm in Delaware for ODP Finals so I'll do my best to keep it up this weekend. My lines:

Germany -1 vs. Sweden

Argentina -2 vs. Mexico

3 points if you guess who wins, or if you guess tie after regulation.

0 points otherwise. Post must happen before first game time or that game won't count.
runthemover
i assume u that means germany by 1 goal and argentina by 2.

ill go with germany to win and mexico to cover the 2 (tho i think argentina wins!)
