Wow!! How did they go from such a great show in the first season to the crap they showed tonight. It seems that this group is a lot more interested in small talk and TV time as opposed to playing serious poker. Please bring back Ted Forrest, Doyle, Todd Brunson, and Jennifer Harman.

Agreed. And you still can't hear the talk at the table very well - they dub the announcers over it! And what's the deal with that camera? Nice cameo by Mother Negreanu though smile.gif

Also, since this is not live, why cant they edit out the three minutes of bs the guys waist pretending they are gonna call?

Maybe not but I cant think of one show last season that I enjoyed less than this one.

for everyone who wonders where pros make their money...
that resturant owner (can's remember his name, was a long name though) was a good source for five digits.

Oh come on any show with the grinder is amazing......

he seemed high and dumb during that interview, or drunk or something. I'll chalk it up to nerves b/c he seemed more alive and fluid at the table.

I like your Mattingly Icon Ron. No one give respect to the man who carried the team when they weren't winning
CobaltBlue
I've got to disagree. I found this episode pretty entertaining. The caliber of players isn't as great, but the personalities are more outgoing.
Etaipo
doin' it for season two as well.

Torrents for season 2 will be here.

Episode 1 is up.

It was either right after a commercial break or right after some dipshit commentary from Gabe, but Gabe said, "And we rejoin the table right after The Grinder just won a pot for over $80,000"

Why the fuck wouldn't they show a pot worth almost a hundred grand?

Also, those retarded hosts remind me of a retarded kid who tried to play high school football locally a few years ago. His name was Gabe as well.

Oh well. I hate the mouth and miss hellmuth's childlike antics.

See you all in hell.

I think it was $92k actually...and yeah...I thought it was rather strange that they'd tell us about it and not show it. There was quite a bit of "dead air" that could've been cut out of this episode.
KONGOS
I agree that there was a little too much dead air but I thought it was quite entertaining...and funny! We also have to remember that there are 15 episodes left and much more to come. Also, I haven't seen much of Daniel Alaei but I get the feeling he's really good

fred C is going broke ~ the question is who is going to get his money first !!!

You guys are wrong - they did show the hand. It was the one where Farha made a bluff attempt at the wrong time and Grinder picked him off. It was the last hand they showed before the break I think. For some reason when they came back Gabe Kaplan was first mentioning it. I guess they could've edited it a little better so if people just turned on the show they would know what he's talking about but they def showed the hand...
Whatever
Yes they showed the hand. Aren't you people paying attention? Geeze.

I agree that last night's show was lacking for some reason. Probably just missed the older guys and their action.

Eli
Doyle
Todd
Ted
Jennifer
Barry

They were all missed.

I'll have to check my DVR, but I am fairly sure that Gabe announces the total pot, which was closer to $142K. But I was taking shots of Crown, so meh.

I couldn't agree more. Last season was about playing poker. That's what I liked about it -- yeah you got to see their personalities a bit, but mostly you got to see them play poker.

If last nights episode was an example of season 2 then it is going to be about playing to the camera. I just wanted Mike to shut the **** up! I little bit of him goes a long way -- and it isn't entertaining. If I want to see an idiot clown, I'll watch the circus. I wanted to see some good poker thats why I tuned into HSP.

Sammy did not seem to be having a good time -- did you notice. Yeah, bring back Ted, Doyle, Todd, and Eli.

My biggest problem is that the business side of this kind of show is overriding the entertainment/learning value of the show.

They'd air one phucking hand and go back to 8 commercials.

What, we seen 13 hands of poker in an hour timeframe, ... dry.gif

We need a 2 hour block, or the network to lay off just a bit.

It's beyond ridiculous.

Have to laugh at matasows comment to DN "the day you throw top pair away hell will freeze over" way to funny.

I was thinking the same. There was one hand I believe where he flopped an open ender and called a bet on the flop I think against Chamanara who had either mid or top pair and then when it was checked back to him on the turn I was saying to myself maybe he should bet out here to avoid the draw read by Freddie Chamnasdsddara...which he did and I believe just took it down right there...but I digress...everytime I see him there he is raking.

Yea, he also seems like a no bullsh** type of guy. Not a lot of talk.

Funniest moment on the show was when Matusow said "I was asked, if I could be on an island with one person who would it be.....I said Daniel Negreanu, we'd have a lot of fun together..." Esfandiari replys, "Do you know how gay that just sounded!" Matusow got pretty quiet. I thought it was funny anyway...
deviper
I to agree that the first episode of HSP was not that good, they need to bring back the players from frist seasons HSP. Hopefully they will be in later episodes, and where is ivey, I would love to see him in that game.

QFT

That was great. And then DN kept saying that even then he still wouldn't be able to teach him anything. One of the (very few) highlights of the show.

The first season everyone was bitching that they didnt get to hear the players talk that much. Now that they got Kaplin and the other hole to shut up for awhile, everyone is up in arms.I thought it was alright, they didnt play that many hands, but I dont think it was terrible.
Swift_Psycho
I thought it was fine. I agree that I'd really like to see more of the big game players in it, but truthfully I found it still an interesting view.

i dont know about you guys, but just watching fred chaminara attempt to play poker is physically demanding on my digestive tract. just bearing witness to his awful play literally makes me nauseous. it is disgusting, and i pray for gsn's veiwing audience that he never again be allowed to play a hand during their syndicated program. PLEASE GSN DO US ALL A FAVOR AND DONT TAKE UP TV TIME WITH FRED CHAMINARA'S OCTOGENARIAN MONKEY PLAY. thank you and that is all. smile.gif

Meh, for the sake of drawing more fish to the poker world, it should never be too disturbing to see people playing bad even in a game that big.

touchee mon frere. although i think that the playing bad is quite an understatement. ive only been playing seriously for about a year, my main stomping ground is the $100 6max party tables, and i play better than the guy. hes REALLY awful

Playing with better players may cause amateurs to make more mistakes. I'm sure the caliber of players at $100 6max Party is a little different from GSN HSP.

I am curious as well, but yet again, he is a pretty private guy and might not want any info on his cash game out there on TV.

But I think this also may have been filmed during a tournament he was playing, so that could be it too.

Really absent sponsors like Fred there is no edge at the table for the other pros unless Hellmuth buys in
