So I got a pretty sick internship this summer and im gonna be makin a ton of money. And since you have to spend some of it I am lookin at the different handheld devices that you can get.

Some things I want it to have:

be able to connect to internet for email, etc
doesnt need to be a phone
have all the pda type stuff on it (calander, to do list etc)
decent size memory

Probably a bunch more but as yall know I am not the most computer savvy (ironic that im workin systems for a major company haha)

So i leave it up to the computer guys here to help out

lol

Coming back to the topic, why don't you just buy a pda?
I would say you'll want one with the bluetooth, so that you could connect to the internet via GPRS. One main advice is DO NOT buy Acer N30. I did that mistake a year ago and have been having only problems with it ever since. Try Fujutsu Siemens or Asus, they are the best on the market. Or even HP.

Without a doubt, go with an HP IPAQ. I have an IPAQ 4150 and that thing kicks ***. It does everything you want and so much more. Can't go wrong with an HP.

I'd go with the new Palm Treo because of its fast Internet connectivity and Windows format. It is a phone, but does have camera, bluetooth, expandable memory, etc. I have the old one (Treo 650) and I like it. It has all PDA features. And no, I don't work for Treo, wish I did tho.

And right you were... A PDA is not something you buy out of the blue just cuz you like the price. I wish I knew that a year ago when I was buying mine...
Anyways, HP seems to be the best choice in this case. I would think twice before buying a Palm though... Palms are hardet to navigate for some reason, PPCs have always seemed more user-friendly to me smile.gif
And don't forget which memory card your PDA is using. I vote for SDs smile.gif

Since you are working for a major company get the IT department to hook you up with whatever platform they support. Most likely it will be a Blackberry. You can't do as much in the third party apps area with Blackberries as a Treo or HP platform but in terms of doing what you want it excels. Get the 8700 model with EDGE (if you have that network available) and you will be happy.

Email - fantastic
Internet - OK
Phone - all in one - also includes speakerphone
Calendar - easily synchs realtime with your desktop calendar
To do/etc - no one ever really uses these but it's there if you want
Memory - who knows - mine has email stretching back to April still in it so it is probably enough

Metal Detector....those things are sweet.....

For all that stuff i think a blackberry is the way to go
i dont personally have one but i have heard great things about them

I'm a geek, and I have way too much money, and I can't imagine a way in which such a thing would do anything but piss me off.

If you already have a cell phone then you can transfer the number to the Blackberry. That way you can carry one device instead of two
