QUOTE (faketree)
I'm so tempted to do this but it is just too shady. Everyone who posts and says its legit either has maybe 5 posts to their name, which makes me think they are spammers who signed up to spam, and/or say things in such languange that it sounds like a scam. Things I've heard so far:
'If it doesn't work I'll send you $1000 thru paypal, everyone on the board is a witness.'
Ok, there are obviously things wrong with this. If it was a real person that I knew that made this promise, maybe I'd try. But there is nothing binding about this that would force him to pay me if it doesn't work. And, ok, everyone on the board is a witness. Who cares? If you did screw me what could I and my online army do? Virtually kick your as$ over the information superhighway? Flame you to no end? Sorry, but identity theft isn't worth that.
'It works because I turned $75 into $127.xx in no time'.
I paraphrased this because I don't remember the exact words and I'm too lazy to scroll. But how does you turning $75 into $127 prove that this isn't a scam? All that proves is that you won some money. Big deal.
There are countless others in other threads that I won't go into. I still have yet to see a regular poster on here say that they've tried this and it works. They're quite like the new 'Free iPod' scams all over the internet.
I've also heard about sites like Noble Poker and Royal Vegas poker giving away $10 just for signing up. This money is supposedly automatically placed into your account right at signup. No signing up anywhere else. No calling anyone on the phone. No giving out your password to anyone. Just pure free money. If it was legit, why wouldn't PartyPoker just run it this way? It would bring new users to the site without having some 3rd party shadiness as a middleman.
Needless to say, I'm not doing it. It is only $75 and not worth potential identity theft and/or having my information sold to countless shady companies.
nevs29, i don't know how you live with yourself scamming people for a living. just remember, karma is a bittch!
Well, the thing about it is that you get the 75 up front. You sign up, you call them to verify you address and birth day and login name not even your password. Actually, I'd heard you had to give them your password, but when I talked to them they didn't even ask for it. Then they give you the $75 while on the phone.
Its actually not just $75 free you realize... That's what they give you to start. After 500 raked hands you get another $25 too... But, what really makes doing this worthwile (if you have a small bankroll) is that you also get the Party Poker bonus on top of that (30% through them).
Personally, I got the free $75 and deposited some extra cash on top of that to bring myself up to the 300BB rule for limit play. Then I got the extra $25 for free 500 raked hands later, and a 30% bonus on my extra deposit 474 raked hands later. In total, I deposited $225 of my own cash and 974 raked hands later I had $393 plus the winnings I made while playing.
What I've done now is take my money out of Party Poker and sign up with www.frequentflopper.com with my new account on PokerNow. PokerNow is a party skin, so really I'm still playing at Party Poker. But, doing this allows me to take advantage of the frequent flopper rake back program (FFP). In addition, when you sign up for the frequent flopper thing, you get an 'exclusive' (or so they say) bonus of 100% to $100 max for 1200 raked hands.
In essence, I started my bankroll at $225 two weeks ago and am up to $500 now (bonuses plus $100 of my own winnings). 1200 raked hands from now I will have $600 plus winnings and I will begin accumulating rake back points through the frequent flopper program.
Did you check out www.pokersourceonline.com (PSO)? That's the affiliate company that runs Instant Bankroll, www.frequentflopper.com and www.freewsop.com. They also have lots of other promotions for signing up new accounts on various poker sites. You can read all sorts of feedback on their programs in their forums. Most of it is very good. Also, if you have questions about the programs you can ask in the forums and the people that run it will ususally answer very quickly.
Look, I know I don't have hundreds of posts on this forum - I'm relatively new to the online poker world. I'm certainly not going to send you cash if it doesn't work for you. But, I can tell you that the Instant Bankroll promotion worked out really well for me. So much so, that I'm on to my second PSO promotion (the FFP at PokerNow). I don't even get spam email from them. This is not like the 'free ipod' scams that make you do stuff to get their bonus. I don't know why party poker doesn't run their promotions like Noble Poker and Royal Vegas like you mention... I've never tried those promotions. At any rate, there's a big difference between the $10 free that they're offering and the $167 (75+25+30% bonus on deposit) that I got... I know it seems 'sketchy' and I was skeptical at first but check it out. I suspect you'll be happy that you did.
So, in summary, PSO runs some pretty good promotions that are certainly worth checking out. If you're having doubts I'd suggest checking out their website and the forums on their site.
Good luck!
