Detroit will not make the playoffs, I guarantee it.

If Detroit does make it to the playoffs they won't make it to the World Series. I believe there are 3 teams that are better than them, the White Sox, Red Sox, and the Yankees. While the Tigers have been impressive early they have been beating up the Twins and Royals. Against the White Sox they are 0-3 and have not played as well against teams above .500. They are a good young ball club and I think they are a year or two away from making a good run at the Championship.

As much as I like the White Sox, I'd love to see Detroit make it to the playoffs for purely underdog reasons. Ideally, Chicago would take the AL Central and Detroit would pick up the Wild Card and shut the Yankees out.

Verlander and Robertson have been performing WAAAAAY beyond any reasonable expectations, and I believe they will both come back to earth and finish with 4.50 - 5.00ish ERAs. I don't think their staff is truly deep enough to perform this well late into October. I think they have a shot at the wild card, but would not be surprised to see them get shut out of the playoffs.

I don't expect Robertson to keep up at this level although he has been getting better every year. However, Verlander might. No one knows how good Verlander will be yet since he is new to the Major League. Since he is a rookie and has such a low ERA after a fair amount of innings, I would think that he has a chance to become a great pitcher.

Yeah, sure, the tigers will make it to the playoffs this year... just like the Lions will make it to the super bowl... the pistons will fail to make the 2007 playoffs... and the red wings will have the worst record in the NHL.

Great game on right now, NY @ Tigs. Verlander gave up some runs but pitched 97 mph + through the 6th inning, and now it's a 1-run ballgame.
