Full Version: Playing Draws On The Short Stack ?

Jam-Fly
This situation came up a few times tonight.
I was shortstacked the whole night, moving all in before i got to less than 3 BB. I was called twice, i showed AQ, AJ and once i guy looked at my cards- AK. The table is generally tight and fold to big raises, and raise small amounts.
Hand #1)
on the BB with about 7big blinds. I had TdJs, button limps, SB folds, I check. button has slightly more than me. He has been fairly tight. flop comes 4c8c9c. Whats shud i do ?

Hand #2)
6h7d on the BB with about 8big blinds. Middle position player limps(healthy stack, maybe 1.5 or 2 times my stack). SB calls (same stack size as limper). I check. MP is a player who limps a lot and folds to medium-big raises, it seems to me he doesnt like to put alot of chips in the put without the goods. SB is a good, aggressive player, not afraid to make big calls or raises, willing to go with his good reads. Flop come 8h8sTh. SB checks, i check, limper check. Turn is 9c. SB checks, what do I do ?

This looks like a home game so payout structures , # of players left - that sort of thing would help.

Hand #1 - What does the button open limp signify (e.g. is it likely a trap)? Under the assumption that button will limp with a wide range of hands, I would bet the pot as that is what I'd do if I had hit TP. Button should realize that I'm pot committed and not play unless he has something. We still have outs if we end up all-in.

Hand #2 - With 8 BB's - I'm willing to gamble with the idiot end of the straight and just jam.

Hand #1) I check. Don't have a problem with pushing though. Hey, you're short, gotta gamble for chips.

Hand #2) I bet a little over 1/3 my stack and hope he pushes. I would consider myself good here and want all the chips in the middle.
