Does anyone feel that it is extremely unfair to have 6 teams in the NL Central and 4 in the AL West. Will this problem ever be adressed? I think the answer to the solution is turn the Houston Astros into an AL team and put it in the West. This is an underrated problem and it's unfairness needs to be addressed. Switching this would also make rivalry weekend be more fair since every team would get to play their "rivals," instead of some teams being let out.

I have actually though of this before and woul not be surprised to see it happen within ten year. I just say that because I know they aren't afraid to move teams after they moved the Tigers from the AL East and the Brewers to the national league. If anything that see likes it could be a better sholution than anything but there is many other moves you could make that would make sense.

The problem is that if they take a team out of the NL Central and put into the AL then there would be 15 teams in each league. That means that there would have to be at least one interleague series at all times in order to get all the teams on the field on the same day. The only way to solve it is to contract two teams or god forbid bring in two more expansion teams to get an even and equal number of teams in each league...until that happens there will be an unbalanced amount of teams in both leagues.

On a side note Selig wanted the Brewers in the same division with the Cubs to play some non-existent rivalry between the Cubs and Brewers. Back in the late 90's he was even quoted as saying that he doesn't want to harm the Cubs - Brewers rivalry...what fucking rivalry?

He doesn't want to interefere with the rivalry where more cubs fans show up in Milwaukee than Brewers fans..

when the Marlins move to Vegas put them in the AL West and move the pirates to the NL East

Either that or remove 2 teams from the league. The Marlins could go bye-bye and I don't know if MLB fans would weep if Tampa Bay went. The other fair scenario would be to add six teams, but that would be tuff. Adding 2 teams and creating another division would be interesting. San Antonio and Vegas will probablly eventually have teams. Maybe the could set up a football playoff like scenario to keep in wild cards.

Football playoff season would NOT work IMO. Baseball players need to play everyday to be effective. Pitchers who are used to pitching every 5 days will do nothing but hurt them. Giving a bye to the best team in the league would not help at all unlike in football where players are bruised and beaten and need that week off.

I'd rather see 2 teams added rather than to lose two teams, but only Florida seems to be in really bad shape.

God point. However 2 teams added to the AL would still not fix the problem of an unbalanced AL and NL. One division would have 6 in each league and the other would have 5.

Indianapolis and Charlotte could support teams as well

Then they would have to go to four divisions and another major realignment in the process. Lord knows Selig would want to keep the Cubs and Brewers in the same division instead of keeping long time teams Cubs, Cardinals, Reds, and Pirates together.

2 teams = 32 teams, 4 teams in each division.

Then the winners of each division play in the playoffs.

OR

Maybe shorten the season by like 12 games, to 150, and have 8 teams in the playoffs (2 from each division), and have 3/5, 3/5, 4/7, 4/7. But I dont think people like too many teams in the playoffs (I know I wouldn't mind)

There ARE eight teams in the playoffs.

my bad, in each league, for a total of 16 teams.

That is like having half of the teams make the playoffs. I think playoffs should only be for the "elite" teams and the one reason I like baseball playoffs is because they don't have many teams in the playoffs.

Yeah I agree. I think it was better when only 4 teams made the playoffs. That was before Florida and everybody joined up though.

I think the best-of-5 Division Series is a crock. They should just make it best of seven.

The problem with your first solution is that it would get rid of the wildcard, which I grudgingly admit has been pretty good for the game and allows the playoff picture to be more interesting, in my opinion.

The problem with the second is that it makes the regular season much less meaningful; we have a freaking 162 game season, to make that almost meaningless would be a travesty.
