If thats the type of thing youre looking for, get poker edge.
which is equally useless.
I would suggest you reconsider that last statement. No, a live tracker like Poker Edge will not make someone a winner if he has no game to begin with. However, if you're willing to throw away information about the basic tendencies of your opponents (or the texture of the table) I think you're shortchanging yourself.
In limit, which is what I play predominantly, you have to play your cards first and your opponents second. A service like Poker Edge can be very informative for the second part. I think some people who use these services forget that, however, and may start playing their opponents first and cards second. I think that's a mistake, especially in limit. Just because a person's a fish doesn't mean they don't have cards to beat you with. It just means that they are
less likely to have cards. It makes your marginal hands a little more profitable (in addition to your strong hands) and might justify more play of hands (like second pair with an overcard) when up against these players. These trackers are probably even more helpful when playing against very tight players. While tight players may mix it up sometimes, by and large when they are playing they've either got a strong ace or large pair. You can more reliably put them on a hand, which makes it easier to fold your marginal hands when the board hits one of those strong hands.
Table selection is probably even more helpful. If your tracker says you're at a table full of (green) players, which most would call fish, you can play a lot more drawing hands, even in early position, knowing you're getting more than enough odds (implied or merely pot) to see a flop. I like playing big draws on the flop, so that's the kind of table I like. If your table is red, with a lot of tight players, then you need to adjust your style to accomodate that, which for me means being really aggressive in position and folding if I'm played back at all when I'm weak. I don't enjoy tables like that, because the players are better, and you're often not going to get paid off when you hit a monster. On the other hand, others might like that kind of table, because bad beats will be relatively rare.
Anyway, that's my opinion. At the least, I would urge people to consider a live tracking service (I use poker edge. I don't know if pokertracker provides the same tracking). As I said, it won't make you a winner, but ignoring basic information on your opponents can't be good for your game either.
