Hey all, My first strategy post, so hope i get it right. I don't have hand history but here goes..

10+1 MTT 250 players top 20 pay. We're well past first break. I have been card dead whole tourny. This hand comes:
47 players remaining
Blinds 200/400

Hero 2700
Villian 14000

Hero 88 on button and raises to 800
Villian min reraises to 1200 Hero Calls

Flop 5k5 rainbow

Villian checks
Hero pushes
villian calls KJo

blank, blank Hero out in 47th

how'd I do? should i have pushed preflop?

I have been playing TAG in MTT's for months, get down this point usually this short stacked and make this or similar play only to get hammered and out just a bit outside...
....Ian....
my strat is that the bubble only affects me if i have a big stack meaning i dont care whether i make $0 or i make $11.56. but if i got a big stack i am on constant steal mode to take advantage of the people who do care

when you get to less than 10 BBs you are generally either pushing preflop or folding. especially w/ a hand like 8s

Jam preflop
AINEC

EDIT: there is probably antes at this point as well, making our m at less than 4 most likely

Read Harrington on Holdem Volumes 1 and 2 - really helps your tourney game.

With 88 and an M of 4.5 (Chip stack divided by starting pot) - you are pot committed from the get go. The only question is whether to jam or just raise.

I probably just jam here preflop to keep things simple

Thanks Ian, that's kinda the way i rthink about the bubble. I knew my M was getting low, i guess i was a little timid preflop here.

thanks GObears (BTW, is that CAL Bears?)

Seems i tend to watch my M and wait til 4-6. Do you always start looking at 10?
Am I being too tight short stacked?

Yes, Cal Bears, still waiting for them to get to the Rose Bowl

As my M decreases, I tend to get more aggressive. The zone strategies in HOH2 are a good read.

Defintely, defintely do it...I think the thing I took most out of HOH2 is short stack play and inflection points..Its an absolute must read if you play a lot of tournaments

leave out results
And I"m not kidding.

Push.
you'd love everyone to fold and you get 600 chips uncontested.
Or you get called and that aint so bad.

you just need to gamble here and no need to hold chips back.
