It looks like UltimateBet has changed the structure of their sit and gos. I haven't played one in a couple of days but I came home and sat down and low and behold, 1500 chips. I know they've been doing this for a little while now with the multis but this is a new feature for the sit and gos.
they eliminated one round of blinds, the 5/10 starting round. the tourney now starts at 10/20 blinds but you get 50% more chips than before. This makes for the ability to play more hands and see more flops which really makes it much more interesting. The best thing is that I don't think most of the players realize that you can play much differently now and are way to apt to going all in preflop way to early with say TPTK. They'll pay you off when you call a small raise with your 46s or raise with it from UTG.
I like the new structure and I think it will really add to my ITM%.

Noooooooooo dammit no!
I disagree. I want 1500 at a Multi Table, not a SnG. They changed the rounds from 7 minutes to 10 minutes too, which sucks. I want to play a Sit and Go, not a Sit and Stay.
Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :x

Are you sure?
5/10, 1000 chips: 100BB
10/20: 50xBB
20/40: 25xBB
30/60: 16.67BB
50/100: 10BB
100/200: 5BB
10/20, 1500 chips: 75BB
20/40: 37.5
30/60: 25BB
50/100: 15BB
100/200: 7.5BB
200/400: 3.75BB
Simple math, but here's the level by level comparison of BB a starting stack makes (old, new)
1- 100, 75
2- 50, 37.5
3- 25, 25
4- 16.67, 15
5- 10, 7.5
6- 5, 3.75
Due to the proportionality of the blind change and accelerating the levels 1 place vs the 50% initial stack increase, isn't this is actually a FASTER format assuming the same round length?
EDIT: Oh, it's also coming along with 10-minute rounds. That complicates things
Still, you have less actual play the first 7 minutes, then for 4 minutes after the 10-minute mark and so on, don't be fooled by all the numbers being bigger, during the first half of round 1 you lose larger proportions of your stack through loosening up.

I just won at 5+.50 sng at UB, but it took over an hour. I do agree that it gives the better players a better chance and takes some of the luck out of it. I'd like to see the new format at the higher buy-in's, but for $5 I would like to be done in a half hour or so. I'm going to have to play a few more before I pass judgement.
Let me know what you think after playing.

Just an update. If you like the faster sit-n-gos they also added turbo sit-n-gos with faster blind escalations.
I've played three of these tonight and cashed in all three. You can actually lose a hand or, i never thought i'd say this, re-raise without going all in. I'm loving this new structure. Yes, it does take a bit longer. Especially if other realize they don't need to play as fast. But you can make some nice plays and is much more rewarding when you place well.

well... I was always a fan of there old one... the only thing that MIGHT make this better is the 10 minutes instead of 7... I'm still skeptikal.
Playing one right now, previously I stated I'd never play these but ehhh.... I don't want to think to much while I'm browsing around here, so sngo it is.

you have made an excellent example for me. I usually play 6 seated SnG's and if you knock out two people, its almost impossible to not take down the whole thing. Twice last night i had almost a 4-1 chip lead by the time we got heads up. That kind of lead is often too much to overcome.

i play almost exclusively the 10+1 sng's on ub. although the blinds are supposedly going up every ten minutes now as opposed to seven, it does seem like the blinds get up there pretty quick. i've seen lots of whining on the tables about the new structure in that people think these things will take too long. i haven't noticed a difference personally. if u make it to heads up, it's still gonna take about 50-60 minutes to finish one of these things. (on avg.)
u cats should all post ur ub screen names :-)
mines the same as this one. i usually can be found on the tables afternoons eastern time.
all the best
