Looking back at it I think it's better to check/call.

Are there many times you should bet/fold a river?

My reasons for not bet/folding.

1. You don’t want to put more cash into a pot that you probably lose.
2. Betting tells you if you are beaten, but so would a check call and you would get to see his cards for the same price.
3. If he is bluffing you, which is the only real way you could take the pot, he is going to raise so bet/folding is a waste of money.
4. I really can’t see any reason for bet/folding a river in limit. Although if someone can think of one post it.

Mind you I am just about to start playing limit so I could be wrong.

There are situations where you should b/f a river. This isn't one of them.

You don't expect to get called by a worse hand, because basically no hand is calling that doesn't have a diamond in it.

Check/calling is much better. You can give your opponent a chance to bluff and you don't force yourself to fold in a pretty big pot.



Bet/folding is typically a good line against passive players. This is because they will often call with worse hands that they would generally check behind, but only raise much stronger hands since they are passive in style and need very strong hands to raise.
