I had a read on villian. He'd picked me off earlier on a contiuation bet when I had btn and he was in sb orbit before. Flop was K77 and he c/c $22, turn he gay bet me and I let it go. Read was he was TAG, and I don't think too willing to jepordize his stack against me with a speculative holding

It's possible I have the best hand here too, I think. Although obviously I'm wanting a fold and if called, gonna have to give up. I don't think he can call me here with any pair on the board, but if aggro. enough could re-raise me with a big draw and push me off.

I've been told not to do this enough, but it's a rarity, and I'm curious if it's agreeable to do from time to time in these blind battles?

If there's ever a time to do it, it's in a blind battle. In cash games, I like making it 3-4x from the SB since you've got a huge positional disadvantage and your opponents really dont have to be scared of going bust.

In tournaments its different, you can make that type of raise and expect to get more folds.

I like the play. Like you said, I would not use it often. He probably thought you were full of it, and he tried to represtent a big hand. No way he can call that raise with w/o a very made hand. Good play.

is "to 10 total" your standard raise out of the blinds, I thought with the positional disadvantage and your tough to play holdings, a raise to 15 or 16 would be preferrable right?

i raised from $2 to $12, so he had to call $8 more in the BB.

most my raises at 400nl are to 12, unless htere are limpers in before me.

sometimes i'll open raise to 13-14, usually 12 though.

i try to avoid these situations at 1/2. Maybe at 2/4 i'd be more inclined, but I always consider the fact that in a blind battle, everybody thinks the other person is trying to outplay the other one. and you may get some really loose calls and hear "I knew he was bluffing"

Maybe it's tight of me, but i try to showdown good hands if the pots get big in the blind battles. Even shed.

Dangerous play man.
You're getting called by a bunch of overpairs
here that have you in a LOT of trouble...lol
I think as low as 99 and up calls you here.

I disagree. Maybe JJ and better re-pops you preflop.

why not? it's a blind battle...i'd hope he'd raise me more times than not with 99 or better here.

Although risky, I like the play..Now the next time you raise pf and cont. bet, hes gonna think twice about coming back over the top of you..I like to make these plays every once in a while as well, but its paramount that you have a read on your opponent and you know he is willing to come over the top of you but still be able to lay down a hand..Also, if he does have an op, we can nail our 6 outs possibly, as KK and QQ are gonna re raise us pf and are def. making that call post flop
