I have no problem with the home plate collision but the shoulder bump from Pierzynski after the play was over was way out of line.

a typical cub fan doesnt see the whole picture. If you had watched the play close enough you would have seen that aj's helmet flew off toward the cub dugout and he wasnt even trying to get in barrett's face he was going to get his helmet. So please watch what happens next time so that I don;t have to explain it to you.

The fact that you honestly believe when he said that all he was trying to do was get his helmet is laughable and it shows your lack of intelligence. That bat boy could have just as easily have gotten the helmet. Watch the video and you'll see slapped home plate as hard as he could and that he intentionally lunged his shoulder into Barrett...there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. It was complete bush league bullshit and Pierzynski got what he deserved.
You might was to take your own advice when you say look at the whole picture.

here I'll even give you the video to look at, being the nice guy that I am

I dont need to see the replay as I have been watching it for the past 10 minutes. Seriosuly watch it again. After the play Aj goes around barrett to try and get his helmet. Barrett is on the ground and leaps up and grabs aj. You're probably just seeing what you want to see because no sane person, after seeing a bunch on replays would believe that the reson barrett threw the punch was because aj put his shoulder into him.

I would be the first person to tell that it was aj's fault, if it had been. Which it wasn't. So go watch the replay again and then come back and tell me how im wrong again because we odviously weren't watching the same play if I am wrong.
BigDMcGee
well, that one punch is going to be the highlight of an otherwise miserable cubs season.

Barrett lost his mind, period..

There's always next year * sigh*
wsox8
I think AJ was trying to get his helmet.. Just a stupid thing for Barrett to do either way. AJ was not going after him. All he cared about was scoring

AJ was clearly trying to go around Barrett as the video you sent shows.. Are you blind?

So he can get ejected early instead of getting hit around in the game?

As a Giants fan, I am fucking thrilled that someone punched AJ Pierzynski in the face.

Seriously, Bonds hits 714 and this is without a doubt the highlight of my day.

"I think it was pretty gutless," losing pitcher Rich Hill said. "Him hitting Michael when he didn't even have the ball. That's not how you play the game. ... It's pathetic."

Yea, cause getting sucker punched makes him classless...

All catchers know if they block the plate they can get ran over, I've seen AJ get crushed and not get up and act like the little b*tch the cubs catcher did.

Cry more cubbies.

I'm just curious why people think this, did he come over and pee in your cheerios this morning?

He makes a heads up play in the WS, then he gets sucker punched and everyone hates the guy? How does that work, I think it's just a bunch of Cubs fans with sand in their vaginas.

His being a jerk is well documented. I remember reading about how much his teammates in Minnesota hated him. I don't have any specific incident in mind, but a quick google search should turn up something.

A search of Pierzynski+jerk yielded plenty of results, including one of the stories that solidified my opinion of him. From the San Francisco chronicle:

"One of those now-it-can-be-told stories the White Sox, A.J. Pierzynski's new employer, surely haven't heard: During a Giants exhibition game last spring, Pierzynski took a shot to his, shall we say, private parts. Trainer Stan Conte rushed to the scene, placed his hands on Pierzynski's shoulders in a reassuring way, and asked how it felt. "Like this," said Pierzynski, viciously delivering a knee to Conte's groin. It was a real test of professionalism for the enraged Conte, who vowed to ignore Pierzynski for the rest of the season until Conte realized how that would look. The incident went unreported because all of the beat writers happened to be doing in-game interviews in the clubhouse, but it was corroborated by a half-dozen eyewitnesses who could hardly believe their eyes. Said one source, as reliable as they come: "There is absolutely no doubt that it happened.""

I'm a Red Sox fan, so your sand theory doesn't hold in all cases.

The above story is true and has been well documented. Also, I believe none of the pitchers from the Giants could stand him when he was there. He's a major league azzhole, no question about it.

well he is in Chicago now and we love him here so who the hell cares now about his past? Everytime now when he does something that could be "controversial" like make a smart play, he gets accused because his old teammates hated him.. oooo. You would be lucky to have him on your team... too bad.

Chicago, San Francisco, Minnesota, what do I care where he is now? It's not like my opinion changes because he's now on the White Sox. I know if makes a difference to you, but not me. Obviously if he were on my team, my opinion would be slightly different. Instead of being a jackass, he'd be our jackass. Not telling you what to think, just stating my well-backed opinion.

He gets accused for being a ****, not for making a smart play. That's just silly.

Why the **** would I want him on my team? Too bad being such a gigantic tool doesn't get him on base. His numbers compare very favorably to my team's backup catcher.

Quick, which one is your vaunted backstop and which one is the career backup?:

Player 1: .328 OBP, .753 OPS, 96 OPS+, 4.68 RC/27
Player 2: .330 OBP, .765 OPS, 98 OPS+, 4.86 RC/27

It is not all about the numbers, but if you want to talk his numbers are up this year so far... He was a piece of the puzzle that we needed last year and as long as we win and he helps, I could not care less what others think of him... enjoy your night. GL with your $120 million payroll.

The question is which one made key plays to win a world series?

This is just a poor answer. If Bonds came to the Cubs I wouldn't like him. Sometimes we have to let our team loyalties not rule our common sense or knowledge. If a guy is an azzhole, he's an azzhole no matter where he is. Take a step back and stop acting like such a homer.
