UTG checks, MP checks, Hero bets, UTG calls, MP folds.

UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG calls.

River: (6.75 BB) A (2 players)

Final Pot: 8.75 BB

Thoughts? Villain is semi-bad. Plays to many hands, crappys aces..but is not entirely stupid.

How likely are you to get check/raised on the turn by this villain?

Flop/river look fine. Turn is read dependant, but I would bet it against most 2/4 opponents.
fleung22
Played it fine unless you can add more info.
greatwhite
I'm raising the river.

Why..? Because we hit our ace won't do biggrin.gif

Alpha,

If I get raised on the turn..I have to dump it against this villain. No trickiness that I know off.

without a read, nice hand.
With a read that he's agressive, checking the turn would be good.
Raising the river would be bad.
It is somewhat unlikely that villain would be calling down with ace high and then betting the river. It's also unlikely, without a read, that he will donk a worse pair given that he's only c/c'd so far.
It's most likely either KJ, busted draw, or some kind of two pair hand (probably aces up).

Why?

I think you played it fine.

Why?

Because he plays with a lot of shitty aces. Odds are he has a shitty ace. He didn't play agressively at all until the river? This can mean a straight, but I think we are far more likely to A8. I think that he either made 2 pair just a pair of aces on the river. Since it's far more likely he made just a pair of aces given his hand range I would raise.

This makes it far less likely that its a worse ace. Also, you might get 3-bet on that river by 2 pair, and you certainly will get 3-bet by a straight. Raising is indeed no option IMO.

I was thinking more along the lines of raise-fold against a passive unimaginative opponent. It seems like this guy is one. Think about the made hands he could have. He could have A2-A4, A7-A9, and AJ. With AK you will chop. The hands that beat you are A5-A6, AT, AK, and KJ. If if will play any ace here it's a good idea.

The chance of him calling me till the river with only ace high is quite small. Yes they do suck and it might happen, but I really think you need to discount the combos that I beat strongly.
